Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with banking regulations, and supporting day-to-day operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and proficiency in banking software.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and process daily exception items, including NSF and non-post transactions, ACH Suspense File, chargebacks, and other daily monitoring reports; research issues and take appropriate action to resolve account discrepancies. These duties include some of the primary tasks performed but are not all-inclusive and may include other related responsibilities as assigned.
- Provide customer service support by contacting customers regarding overdrawn accounts, assisting with ACH stop payment requests, and handling account-related inquiries both in person and through other communication channels.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state banking regulations, internal policies, and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Maintain organized records and documentation for audit and regulatory purposes.
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing information about bank products and services.
- Directing calls to the appropriate department or personnel.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in customer service, call center, or banking environment preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional and courteous demeanor, with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and banking software systems preferred.
Working Environment:
- Office environment within a community bank.
- May require occasional extended hours during peak periods.
