Role Description This is a contract, hybrid Bookkeeper role based in Concord, NH, with some work-from-home flexibility. The Bookkeeper will maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions, posting journal entries, and reconciling bank and credit card accounts. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting reports, and ensuring that transactions are properly coded to projects, clients, and departments. The role will involve working with accounting software to update ledgers, track expenses, and support budgeting and cash flow monitoring. The Bookkeeper will also assist with month-end and year-end close processes, coordinate with external accountants as needed, and help ensure compliance with internal controls and applicable financial policies.

Qualifications

  • Strong bookkeeping skills, including transaction recording, account reconciliation, and maintaining accurate ledgers.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and related tools; comfort working with spreadsheets and basic office applications.
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting principles, including journal entries and the month-end close process.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience in a small business, professional services, or nonprofit setting is preferred.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
