Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our small, but dynamic engineering firm. In this vital role, you will perform and manage the day-to-day financial record-keeping processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Duties
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using UnaNet AE ERP, Excel and other tools.
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to ensure consistency across all accounts.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently while verifying accuracy.
- Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, for various financial activities. Project accounting a plus.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to identify discrepancies or errors.
- Support budgeting processes by tracking expenses and preparing financial reports for management review.
- Handle governmental accounting requirements and ensure compliance with relevant regulations for non-profit or corporate entities.
- Write clear financial reports, summaries, and documentation to facilitate transparency and decision-making.
- Perform account analysis and general ledger accounting to maintain integrity of financial data.
Experience
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles within corporate or non-profit sectors.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; experience with UnaNet ERP is a plus.
- Knowledge of accrual, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting principles.
- Familiarity with accounting practices and tax regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation accurately.
- Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and budget tracking.
- Excellent understanding of financial concepts including accrual accounting, construction revenue recognition, journal entries, account analysis, and general ledger management.
