TITLE: Bookkeeper/ Accounting Lead
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Position Overview
Golden Cannoli is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper / Accounting Lead to join our team and support the day-to-day financial operations of our growing food manufacturing business. This role works closely with the CFO and plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, improving accounting processes, and ensuring timely financial reporting.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, warehouse, and administrative teams in a fast-paced environment. This position offers the opportunity to contribute beyond traditional bookkeeping through process improvement, inventory reconciliation support, and operational collaboration.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Accounting & Financial Close
- Maintain day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Reconcile all P&L and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals
- Produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements
- Ensure financial data integrity and resolve discrepancies proactively
- Develop and document accounting policies and procedures (SOPs)
- Streamline workflows to increase productivity, efficiency and reduce errors
- Maintain vendor records, including W-9s, and prepare annual 1099 filings
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements
Inventory & Operational Support
- Maintain and reconcile inventory records in QuickBooks – inventory valuations
- Partner with operations to monitor inventory levels and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Collaborate with all departments to maintain budgets
- Support cycle counts and inventory reporting with warehouse team
- Assist with QuickBooks inventory entries as needed
Compliance, Reporting & Audit Support
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax filings
- Support annual budgeting process and external audits
- Maintain financial records in accordance with document retention policies
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Administrative & General Support
- Assist with deposit and cash reporting
- Provide backup support for AP/AR and customer service as needed
SKILLS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks
- Solid understanding of GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
- Analytical focus to identify, analyze and resolve issues
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred
- Experience in food manufacturing, distribution, or similar industry
- Experience with inventory accounting
- Exposure to audits and financial reporting processes
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
