Bookkeeper / Assistant to Controller

Our team processes hundreds of thousands of ambulance claims each year and works closely with public safety departments to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Bookkeeper who will work directly with our Controller to support the financial operations of the company. This is not an entry level data entry position. The ideal candidate will understand accounting principles, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis.

Primary Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
Prepare supporting schedules for financial reports
Assist the Controller with month end and year end closing processes
Maintain organized documentation for audits and financial reviews
Identify and investigate discrepancies in financial records
Assist with special accounting and financial analysis projects

Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting
Experience performing bank reconciliations and financial record balancing
Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks Enterprise or similar systems
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to work directly with senior management and maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Prior experience working in a professional accounting or financial environment
Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
Experience supporting financial reporting or audit preparation

Compensation
