Job Overview

Abounding Grace Foundation is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Bookkeeper to join our team in Pasadena, California. We are a compassionate organisation committed to transforming the lives of prisoners by providing support, hope, and assistance to inmates who have surrendered their lives to Christ. As our Bookkeeper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of our foundation, allowing us to continue our important mission. This position offers flexibility and can be structured as either a full-time or part-time role depending on the ideal candidate.

Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining our financial records and managing all bookkeeping duties. Your day-to-day tasks will include:
 

  • Managing all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Processing and accurately recording donations, grants, and other income.
  • Conducting regular bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
  • Assisting with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements for a non-profit organisation.
  • Maintaining a clear and organised system of financial records and documentation.
  • Liaising with external accountants for annual audits and tax preparations.
  • Processing payroll in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles. Key qualifications include:
 

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.
  • A solid understanding of bookkeeping best practices and accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with MS Excel.
  • The ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity.
  • Experience working within a non-profit or charitable organisation is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
