Position Summary
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the daily financial operations of the school. This position handles routine bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, tuition processing, bank deposits, and recordkeeping while supporting the mission and values of the Christian school.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, organized, and committed to serving in a Christ-centered educational environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Records
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Record daily financial transactions and journal entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements.
- Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation.
- Assist with monthly financial reports and account reconciliations.
Accounts Payable
- Process invoices and vendor payments in a timely manner.
- Verify coding and approvals for expenditures.
- Maintain vendor records and payment schedules.
- Respond to vendor inquiries professionally and promptly.
Accounts Receivable & Tuition Support
- Process tuition payments and other school receipts.
- Maintain student account records and payment histories.
- Assist with collections and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Prepare bank deposits and ensure accurate posting of receipts.
Payroll & Administrative Support
- Assist with payroll data entry and record maintenance.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll and financial information.
- Support school administration with financial and clerical tasks.
- Assist with audit preparation and special projects as needed.
Customer Service & Team Support
- Provide courteous assistance to parents, staff, and vendors regarding financial matters.
- Work collaboratively with school leadership and office staff.
- Support school events and activities as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Minimum associate degree in accounting required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting support experience preferred.
- Experience in nonprofit, church, or school environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and basic accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and accounting software.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in financial records.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at a desk and computer for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift office materials up to 20 pounds.
