Bookkeeper – Property Management Accounting

Pousada Management oversees a portfolio of short-term rental and hospitality properties, managing day-to-day operations, guest experience, and financial performance across multiple locations. We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Bookkeeper to manage property-level accounting, ensure clean financials, and support year-end reporting.


Role Overview


The Bookkeeper will be responsible for day-to-day accounting across multiple properties , maintaining accurate books, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end close . This role works closely with leadership and external CPAs to ensure timely, accurate, and well-organized financial reporting.


This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys structured, repeatable accounting work , understands hospitality or property management financials , and can operate independently in a remote environment.


Key Responsibilities


Property & Day-to-Day Accounting

  • Maintain accurate books for multiple properties and entities
  • Record and categorize income and expenses by property
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment platforms
  • Track operating expenses, vendor payments, and reimbursements
  • Ensure proper allocation of shared expenses across properties


Revenue & Platform Reconciliation

  • Reconcile bookings and payouts from platforms (e.g., Airbnb, VRBO, PMS systems)
  • Track occupancy-based income and identify discrepancies
  • Assist with reporting on property-level performance


Month-End & Year-End Close

  • Prepare month-end close and basic financial statements
  • Support year-end close and provide clean books to CPA
  • Assist with 1099 tracking and documentation
  • Maintain organized financial records and audit-ready documentation


Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Generate property-level P&Ls and summary reports
  • Identify inconsistencies or areas for improved financial tracking
  • Help refine bookkeeping processes as the portfolio grows


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Experience with property management, hospitality, or multi-entity accounting strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (or similar accounting software)
  • Strong understanding of reconciliations and expense categorization
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple properties
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and responsiveness in a remote setting
