Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our accounting records. This role combines hands-on bookkeeping responsibilities with strategic financial oversight, supporting both day-to-day transactions and long-term financial planning. Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of bookkeeping including journal entries, account analysis, and general ledger maintenance using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy across all financial statements.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining vendor relationships.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other management reports.
- Conduct payroll processing and related tax filings in compliance with governmental regulations.
- Assist with budgeting processes, variance analysis, and financial forecasting to support organizational planning.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and maintain thorough documentation of all financial transactions.
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax laws, governmental accounting standards, and best practices in technical accounting.
Requirements
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; experience with Quicken is a plus.
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, non-profit accounting practices, and governmental accounting standards.
- Demonstrated ability in balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, double-entry bookkeeping, and account analysis.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards and experience preparing accurate financial reports.
- Familiarity with payroll processing, tax compliance, accounts payable/receivable management, and bank reconciliation procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills; proficiency in 10-key typing is preferred.
- Ability to interpret complex financial concepts clearly and communicate effectively across teams.
- Experience working with multiple accounting software packages such as QuickBooks Online/Pro, Xero, Sage Intacct or similar tools; technical proficiency is essential.
- Strong analytical skills for account reconciliation and account analysis tasks; ability to perform journal entries accurately.
