Find The RightJob.
PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING
I am a former New Yorker, now having completed a move to Myrtle Beach.
I need to maintain my business in NY. I do not need to work there, but I will need to travel there from time to time. That said, I want to maintain my books and records at my home in Myrtle Beach.
I need one (or two) people to be my administrative assistant, bookkeeper, etc. to do whatever it is I need to meet my business (and personal) requirements.
Except in the beginning, I anticipate this will be a limited number of hours each week, so this is not a career-enhancing full-time job, to replace your current job. What it is, is a good part-time secondary job for you to earn a few extra dollars.
That said, it is an important job and cannot be taken lightly, and it is not something where you can fall behind and catch up when you have the time. You must be timely and rigorous in handling everything and keeping me timely informed.
To be clear, I say it is part-time, but you must devote whatever time is necessary to handle your work on a timely basis.
I say this because, in the past, I cannot tell you how many times, people applied for the job because they liked the idea of having a few extra dollars in their pocket, but then when it came time to earn their money, the job lost its appeal, or there was always something that came up that they thought more important, that they had to do first.
If you are someone that works various jobs, you cannot put this job on the back burner because there is some other short-term job that you are afraid you will lose if you do not handle it first. Ditto, if you have personal responsibilities that will, or even may possibly interfere with this job.
In the beginning, you will need to devote a substantial amount of time to this job, because I have a lot of catch-up work to do, especially with regard to QuickBooks, and filing, and I need to do this catch-up work ASAP. In addition, there is much to be trained on.
If you have a regular full-time job then you probably will not be able to meet this requirement and you should realize that unless you timely complete all the work required to make everything current, it will be of no value to me and I will not pay for anything you do.
One of the most important jobs will be keeping current with some QuickBooks accounts, both in terms of data entry and reconciliation.
Accordingly, you should have a basic understanding of accounting/bookkeeping and a good working knowledge of QuickBooks.
You should also have good organizational and self-management skills.
Other jobs you would typically be expected to handle would be dealing with the mail, paying bills, making phone calls, filing, handling emails, going to the post office, dealing with problems and more generally, whatever simplifies my life.
Handling a problem does not include finding a reason to drop it back in my lap to do.
In short, you are going to work in my stead, and you would need to handle all matters with the same (or possibly even better) care and consideration that you would if you were doing them for yourself.
Generally, most of the out-of-home errands you will be asked to do can be performed on your commute and you will be paid for your extra commuting time.
And maybe the most important job is to keep a To Do List for yourself, and to remind me of things on that list that only I can do and appointments I have.
You will be working at my home, which is in Myrtle Beach zip code 29579, during the time that I am present. This job is not remote. Accordingly, you must be dependable; show up when and at the agreed time. I say this because many people think it is perfectly fine to cancel by texting me at the last minute, and then I am left at the last minute with no plans for my day.
I have a 15 lb., 1 year-old puppy, who is very friendly .
I am looking for a trustworthy, considerate, thrifty, motivated yet easygoing person who can go with the flow, work efficiently, and most importantly has common sense, because living a long distance from my business is new to me, and I am going to need to work out the kinks, and things change over time. I need a quick learner and an efficient multitasker who does not need a lot of supervision.
I would need to know what your general weekly availability is, and if there is anything that might change that availability, because I would want someone who has flexibility when they could work, and I am looking for someone for the long term. Someone wo works only for the short term provides no value to me.
It may be problematic for you to do this if you have a typical Monday-through-Friday 9 to 5 full-time job. Accordingly, if you do, I will need to know how you will be able to make phone calls and otherwise interact with other individuals, which generally happens during typical business hours.
Additionally, if you plan to work at night after finishing your regular full-time job, you must realize that, because you are working at my home, you cannot work past a certain hour. Ditto for arriving to early. You must have your own car and your own cell phone, and you should live relatively close to me (say within 10 minutes).
Multiple references are a must.
When you answer, you must indicate with specificity that you meet each of the requirements (listed below). I say this because many people apply without reading the requirements, or they do read the requirements, emphasize the requirements that they do meet, but skip over mentioning anything that they do not.
The job pays an hourly rate, which is listed herein, so you should indicate that the rate is acceptable to you. Payments will be made by corporate check.
You will be working as an independent contractor, so prior to commencing employment , you need to execute a W-9 and provide a copy of your driver’s license.
Except in the beginning, you will be paid approximately every two weeks, generally within 2 weeks after the end of the two-week period and you have submitted a detailed schedule of tasks you performed and the time that you performed those tasks. In the beginning when you are doing all the catch-up work, you will be paid approximately two weeks after if and when you have timely brought everything current.
If you wish to be considered, it is important that when you answer, you indicate:
1. you have your own working car,
2. roughly how close you are to me
3. you have a cellphone that you can be reached at
4. your availability (now & in the future)
5. your flexibility (now & in the future).
6. you have multiple references
7. rate of pay is acceptable to you
