Brown County Library seeks a dynamic Library Bookmobile Manager to bring a love for literacy-- including books, programs, and lifelong learning--directly to Brown County communities. From schools and senior centers to parks and local events, the Bookmobile Manager ensures that everyone in Brown County has access to the library, no matter where they are. More than just a mobile library driver, this role is all about building connections, forging partnerships, and creating welcoming spaces for readers of all ages.The Bookmobile Manager works closely with Public Service Managers and Library Administration to advance systemwide initiatives and strengthen partnerships with local organizations. The position will play a key role in outreach and community engagement, turning every stop into an opportunity for discovery, education, and connection. Whether it’s sparking a child’s love of reading, connecting adults to resources, or collaborating with local organizations, this role embodies the library’s mission to bring people and ideas together.All applicants MUST submit both a resume and cover letter to be considered.Job Summary: The Bookmobile Manager is responsible for coordinating, planning, scheduling, and supervising the activities, collections, and spaces within the bookmobile. Using professional knowledge and skills, they provide a safe and welcoming environment, diverse collections, quality programming, and excellent library service.Typical Schedule: Mondays - Fridays: 8:00 am - 5:00 pmEvening and weekend hours are required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
1. Implement bookmobile services within communitya. Research, propose, implement, and promote approved Bookmobile stops including special eventsb. Communicate with community partners and library staff about bookmobile servicesc. Plan, implement, and promote the programs and services offered by the bookmobile in alignment with Brown County Library standardsd. Maintain appropriate library collections by working with the Collection Development Manager and appropriate selectorse. Plan space and amenities to meet the needs of customers and align with system standardsf. Oversee safe operating conditions and maintenance of the bookmobile2. Ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the bookmobilea. Meet customer needs for information by answering questions and locating appropriate library resourcesb. Recommend books and other resources and services based on customer preferencesc. Provide help with library technology such as the library catalog and digital resources.d. Use the library’s circulation system to check materials in and out, and perform customer service for library patronse. Maintain orderly and attractive collections and withdraw items as appropriatef. Ensure that materials are in the correct order on the shelves (Shelf Reading) and shift as necessaryg. Recruit, train, and supervise bookmobile volunteersh. Oversee accurate cash handling and create deposits, and other financial responsibilities for the bookmobile3. Develop and implement Brown County Library-wide initiativesa. Attend Library meetings and training to maintain knowledge baseb. Compile information for assigned operational reportsc. Analyze data to evaluate the success of programs and servicesd. Develop programs and/or services eligible for grant funding, and work with Administration to write and submit grant applicationse. Plan, prepare, and implement grant programs with Administrative oversightf. Develop internal procedures, and ensure compliance with Brown County Library standards and policies g. Prepare and submit Brown County Library budget requests and Friends of the Brown County Library funding requests for the bookmobile4. Build and maintain community relationships through networking and outreacha. Strengthen community contacts, relating library objectives and services that meet community needsb. Act as a liaison to community groups and organizations to build partnerships that extend library services through that groupc. Speak publicly as an expert in a subject area or about library servicesd. Work with community organizations to provide services or programming that meet customer needse. Contribute to and participate in professional activity at the local, state, and national levels

Evening and weekend work may be required. As part of a county-wide library system, reassignment to another branch may occur.
