Box Truck Driver

Gregor Industries, a reputable general contractor located in Huntington Station, is currently seeking a qualified Box Truck Driver. This position involves traveling to various job sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey.

Responsibilities:

• Vehicle Operation: Drive a Gregor Box Truck on predetermined interstate and intrastate routes and schedules.
• Delivery and Pickup: Deliver or pick up items as instructed, ensuring timely and accurate service.
• Loading and Unloading: Load and unload the vehicle as necessary, using proper techniques to ensure safety and prevent damage.
• Documentation: Accurately document deliveries and log shipment information, including interstate travel details.
• Regulatory Compliance: Follow all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and maintain compliance with industry standards.
• Work Instructions: Execute daily work instructions from the Supervisor promptly and efficiently, and track hours using T-sheets.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain industry vehicles and material handling equipment in safe and good working condition, performing regular inspections and reporting any issues.
• Record Keeping: Record the quantity and condition of materials received and circulated.
• Merchandise Inspection: Inspect merchandise upon delivery to identify any damages and report accordingly.
• Material Transportation: Transport merchandise between receiving stations, warehouses, and production areas.
• Manual Handling: Safely operate manual material handling equipment, such as hand jacks and wheeled carts.
• Lifting and Carrying: Lift and carry merchandise as needed, ensuring proper handling techniques are used.
• Waste Management: Assist in waste disposal and recycling activities, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
• Site Cleanup: Collect and dispose of garbage and debris from job sites, and manage housekeeping activities at storage facilities when requested.
• Driving Record: Maintain a clean driving record and comply with all transportation laws and regulations.
• Parking: Be mindful of parking work vehicles at job sites to avoid penalties and ensure safety.
• General Labor: Provide general labor assistance as needed, including tasks related to construction when applicable.
• Construction Experience: Experience in general construction tasks is considered an advantage.

Requirements:

• Work Authorization: Must be able to work in the U.S.
• Independence: Must be diligent, savvy, and able to work independently.
• Availability: Must be able to work nights and weekends.
• Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Reliable Transportation: Must have or own a reliable vehicle.

Salary:

• Hourly Rate: $20 - $35 per hour.
• Compensation: Based on experience.
