Branch Manager River Crossing

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A BRANCH MANAGER

You will be Responsible for directing and administering the operational efforts of the Branch. You will ensure that established policies and procedures are followed. You will oversee provision of a full range of services to members and prospective members. You will ensure that members are promptly and professionally served. You will be responsible to train, direct, and supervise Branch staff. You will be responsible for performing a broad variety of member and employee services environment; such as:

  • Supervise work scheduling and workflow of daily routine operations.
  • Ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure Branch security. Opens and closes the building in accordance with set hours and tests security equipment.
  • Act as a Loan Officer, processing and approving member loans within established policies and limits.
  • Supervise and assist with member services functions. Cross-sells Credit Union services.
  • Implement changes to established policy and procedures within the Branch.
  • Assume responsibility for maintaining the proper cash controls.
  • Ensure that all Branch transactions are balanced at the close of each day.
  • Oversee individual accountability for the handling of cash and assists tellers in resolving balancing problems.
  • Control and handle daily deposits in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Periodically verify cash in possession of tellers and cash on the premises.
  • Effectively supervise Branch staff, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Provide leadership through effective goal setting and communication.
  • Directly supervise all Branch personnel. Ensure that high quality work and efficiency in operations are maintained. Determine work methods and flow through assigning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing tasks
  • Conduct regular meetings with Branch employees to inform and train. Discuss areas needing improvement and changes in procedure.
  • Conduct meetings with Branch management staff as needed to coordinate activities.
  • Ensure that personnel are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs. Complete orientation of new employees in overall Branch procedures. Perform cross training as necessary. Conduct security training.
  • Ensure that personnel are effective and optimally used. Determine appropriate staffing levels for proper utilization of human resources.
  • Track individual progress and conducts performance appraisals on each employee at least twice annually. Formulate and implement corrective actions as needed. Recommend promotions for employees as appropriate. Provide leadership training to employees seeking management opportunities.
  • Approve all sick leave, vacation, overtime, and time cards for each Branch employee. Keeps accurate payroll and attendance records.
  • Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with members.
  • Ensure that members' requests and questions are promptly resolved. Handles members' complaints.
  • Ensure that members are informed of Credit Union services and policies. Council members regarding their financial needs and services requested.
  • Ensure that the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.
  • Assume responsibility for the effective administration of Branch functions.
  • Ensure that Branch operations are well coordinated with Credit Union accounting, loan processing, and credit functions.
  • Manage and oversees expenses. Pursue cost-saving measures.
  • Continually seek ways to improve Branch operations and productivity and to meet established goals.
  • Prepare periodic Branch activity reports and makes recommendations to management for improvements.
  • Ensure that proper maintenance and general housekeeping of the building, grounds, work areas, desks, and equipment is carried out, including snow and ice removal.
  • Ensure that adequate supplies, forms, and equipment are available for personnel.
  • Institute prudent safety measures.
  • Keep management informed of Branch activities, progress toward established objectives, and of any significant problems. Requests assistance when necessary.
  • Approve checks, branch transactions, and loans within credit union policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that fees and refunds are handled in accordance with credit union guidelines.
  • Assume responsibility for related functions as required or assigned.
  • Fill in and performs duties in Branch positions as needed.
  • Attend assigned meetings, training sessions and stays current on new operational procedures
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring that professional business relationships are established and maintained with outside business contacts and external insurance professionals.
  • Ensure that the professional reputation of Cyprus Federal Credit Union is maintained both internally and externally.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of security and confidentiality are maintained.
  • Act as a principal representative of the Credit Union in contact with business and trade associations and external professionals. Promote the Credit Union's interests.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Branch services are efficiently and effectively delivered in accordance with established Credit Union policies and standards.
  • Current member accounts are maintained or expanded and additional ones solicited. Good business relationships exist with members and their questions and problems promptly resolved.
  • Branch personnel are well trained and efficient, and their activities well-coordinated.
  • Required reports and records are accurate and timely.
  • Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Suggestions are provided for improved efficiency or effectiveness in operations.
  • Good working relationships exist with Branch personnel. Assistance is provided as needed.
  • Branch transactions, loan volumes, expenses, and profitability are in line with Credit Union standards.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent. Additional college coursework in business or finance preferred.

Required Knowledge

Understanding of the Credit Union's field of membership, Thorough knowledge of Credit Union services and products, Understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements, Familiarity with Branch functions, policies, and procedures.

Experience Required

At least five years of related experience in a financial institution, with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience.

Skills/Abilities

Strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills, Well organized, Ability to operate related computer applications and related business equipment, Attention to detail, Ability to maintain an effective and efficient work flow.

BANKING WORK SCHEDULE FOR A BRANCH MANAGER

This full-time Branch Manager position in member services offers a set scheduled shift of: Monday-Friday from 8:45 AM - 6:15 PM and some Saturdays are required from 8:45 AM to 2:15 PM. You would always have your Saturday evenings and all day Sunday free!
