Essential Functions:
- Work in a manner consistent with our Core Values and ensure compliance with safety and company policies.
- Supervise all Northern and Southern Branch employees; Regional Branch Managers, Branch Managers, Route Supervisors, Sales Representatives, Drivers, and Merchandiser(s).
- Provide Leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
- Meet with both Branch Managers and Regional Branch Manager regularly to design and account for goals set at each branch.
- Regularly evaluate all local, wholesale, and transport routes to balance workloads, fill trucks, and reduce miles driven.
- Work in conjunction with General Sales Manager regarding key accounts where local branch managers are required to establish display goals and quality standards.
- Work with Branch Managers to effectively utilize merchandisers and order writers to maximize sales impact and growth.
- Develop strategies to create standing orders for full-service accounts where possible and ensure implementation of a 48-hour lead-time on orders.
- Assess performance of accounts in each branch to take advantage of growth opportunities.
- Analyze and monitor dump at each branch, route, and account. Work with order writers and drivers to keep product dump below goal levels.
- Track and address loss of crates at each branch. Develop and implement strategies to retain crates.
- Work closely with Branch Managers to promote PFR and novelty sales at branch level.
- Knowledge of the essential programs, such as ERMS/Numeric, CyberQuery, Xpedium EHS Insight, Idelic, Verizon, Salient, Dossier and Paragon.
- Knowledge of all products.
- Answer and return all phone calls daily from customers, co-workers, employees, and the public.
- Build relationships and be active in community projects, events, and organizations.
- Achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to preset standards and industry and economic trends.
- Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Monitors competitor products and sales activities and communicates this information to GSM.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
- Guides preparation of sales activity reports and presents to executive management.
- Directs market channel development activity and coordinates distribution by establishing territories, quotas, and goals.
- Participate in and presentation of AOP and monthly business reviews.
- Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES
- Meet with branch employees quarterly as well as on a yearly basis for performance evaluations
- Provide team members with the opportunity to voice concerns and ideas for improvement.
- Communicate with team members to ensure they understand the company direction and expectations.
- Monitor and communicate with GSM sales opportunities and Umpqua shelf space in existing stores to maximize the sales potential of our dairy or ice cream sets.
- Actively participate in interviews for new personnel.
- Assist with budgets, sales, expenses, and labor with Regional Branch Mangers yearly.
- Meet with General Manager and General Sales Manager yearly in Roseburg for performance review and goal setting.
- Collaborate with Transportation Manager, Regional Managers and Branch Managers on quarterly route optimization efforts
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Minimum of 5 years management experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations Management or related field or commensurate training and experience.
- 10+ years of leadership/supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of principals and methods for merchandising, promoting, and selling products
- Market knowledge
- Capacity to develop effective relationships at all levels of the organization and to influence positive outcomes
- Ability to work under pressure; organized and efficient use of time, set priorities to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Must be responsible, reliable and results driven
- Ability to work flexible schedules including shift work, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work in a variety of environments (summer heat and winter cold)
- Computer skills, Excel and MS Word
