Breaking News Reporter

Job Summary:

A key member of the Denver Gazette team, the Breaking News Reporter is primarily responsible for pursuing daily breaking news for the website and our daily digital edition. We prefer a candidate with strong news photography skills. This job entails working weekends and some nights, as assigned.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Covers breaking news for our digital platforms and the daily e-edition
• Shoots photos for spot news, feature or enterprise stories, as assigned
• Writes about public safety stories, such as crime trends
• Collaborates and maintains strong working relationship with other staffers
• Uses multiple tools, such as video, and platforms, notably social media, to convey stories
• Develops a wide range of sources in metro Denver
• Writes enterprise articles and other stories, as assigned
• Familiar with SEO requirements and other strategies to draw in and engage a wider audience

Minimum Education & Work Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or mass communications, or a similar field.
