B.Sc Staff Nurse

Job Summary : The Ward Nurse is responsible for providing round-the-clock nursing care to admitted patients, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and recovery. The role involves monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, assisting doctors during rounds, maintaining accurate records, and following hospital protocols for quality care and infection control.

Key Responsibility:

1. Patient Care & Monitoring

· Provide direct nursing care to patients admitted in the ward.

· Monitor vital signs and patient condition regularly.

· Identify and report any changes in patient health to the treating doctor.

· Assist patients with daily activities and mobility as required.

2. Medication & Treatment

· Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, and treatments as prescribed.

· Ensure correct dosage, timing, and route of medication administration.

· Observe patients for drug reactions or side effects.

3. Clinical Support

· Assist doctors during ward rounds and procedures.

· Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, or transfers.

· Provide pre- and post-procedure care.

4. Documentation & Coordination

· Maintain accurate nursing notes, charts, and patient records.

· Update treatment charts and intake-output records.

· Coordinate with doctors, lab, pharmacy, and other departments.

5. Infection Control & Safety

. Follow infection control protocols and hospital safety guidelines.

. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the ward.

. Ensure proper handling and disposal of biomedical waste.

6. Patient & Attendant Education

· Educate patients and relatives about medications, diet, and care instructions.

· Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and attendants.

Qualification:

· GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery) Diploma or B.Sc. Nursing from a recognised institution.

· Must be registered with the State Nursing Council.

· Knowledge in BLS is Mandatory.

Experience:

1. Overall: 1- 3 Years of experience in a ward dealing with nursing, patient care, or general surgical/medical ward.

2. Relevant: Fresher or 2 Years Experience in nursing care, including preoperative and postoperative patient care, medication administration, and patient monitoring in wards.

3. Age: Minimum 23 – 25 Years.

4. Prior clinical experience is often preferred, particularly experience in preoperative and postoperative care of patients.

6. Use of medical equipment such as (Infusion pumps, Cardiac monitors, Oxygen delivery systems, Suction apparatus.
