RENO-SPARKS INDIAN COLONY: OUR STORY

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony represents descendants of three Great Basin Indigenous peoples: the **Numu (Northern Paiute)**, **Newe (Western Shoshone)**, and **Washeshu (Washoe)**. These communities lived in harmony with the land for generations before European contact, following seasonal cycles and forming small, efficient social groups for survival. Each group’s name means **“The People”** in their own language, reflecting their deep cultural identity and connection to the Earth. They maintained strong traditions, respected neighboring tribes, and engaged in trade throughout the region. As a Full-Time Budget Analyst at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, you will engage in essential administrative and technical work that supports the budgeting activities of the Reno-Sparks Tribal Health Center. Your role will encompass budget preparation, review, and amendment, requiring keen attention to detail and adherence to guidelines. You will be responsible for researching, compiling, and verifying budgetary information to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Proficiency in accounting software, particularly AccuFund, along with strong capabilities in Microsoft Word and Excel, is essential for effective budget preparation and management. You should possess a solid understanding of financial compliance with OMB Circulars and grant requirements, ensuring all expenditures align with RSIC Finance policies. Excellent analytical skills will enable you to compile accurate budget projections and adjustments, while your attention to detail will be crucial in maintaining documentation and coordinating with Clinic Division Managers. Furthermore, strong communication and relationship-building skills are necessary for collaborating with tribal officials and colleagues in a diverse environment.

A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and understanding HIPAA policies is also a must for this dynamic role.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation of the annual clinic budgets, budget modifications and reconciliations with AccuFund reports. Prepares annual budget packets for distribution to the Executive Health Board and Tribal Council.
• Compile information for budget projections and for the preparation of the budgets.
• Ensure expenditures in all accounts are in compliant with applicable OMB Circulars, grant requirements and RSIC Finance policies.
• Coordinates the preparation, input, printing and distribution of budget worksheets. Coordinates with RSIC Finance and ContractsGrant Office to ensure reconciliation of clinic budget line-items.
• Assists and supports the RSIC Finance in researching, compiling, and verifying information used in the budget preparation, review and amendment of policies and processes.
• Coordinates with Clinic Division Managers in preparation, printing and distribution of the preliminary, final and modified budget(s).
• Prepares budget adjustment and maintains files of all budget adjustments for reporting purposes and help clinic divisions in doing modifications as needed.
• Serves as first level approver of requisitions, receiving reports, travel requisitions and other budgetary approvals in the AccuFund system or manual forms as designated by the Clinic Director.
• Assist with other related duties as assigned such as maintaining up-to-date clinic rosters with salary and accounting information, or other similar duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Supplemental course work in business math or accounting preferred; extensive experience in general clerical including experience in report preparation and utilization of spreadsheet applications.
• Must be computer literate to operate accounting software and Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
• Ability to understand and follow brief instructions in regard to solving accounting problems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with tribal official's fellow employees and customers.
• Must maintain patient confidentiality and understand HIPPA policies.
• Must be able to work in a diverse minority environment.
