BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION COORDINATOR / WORKING FOREMAN

The City of Jesup is seeking a qualified and motivated Building and Construction Coordinator / Working Foreman to lead and participate in the construction, repair, renovation, and maintenance of City buildings, facilities, streets, and infrastructure. This position serves as the City's in-house construction leader and is responsible for coordinating projects, supervising work crews, managing contractors, and performing skilled hands-on construction and maintenance work.

The ideal candidate will possess strong construction knowledge, leadership abilities, project management skills, and the ability to work independently while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs hands-on construction, repair, renovation, and maintenance work on City buildings, facilities, streets, and infrastructure. • Serves as working foreman by directing Public Works crews on daily construction and maintenance assignments. • Plans, coordinates, schedules, and oversees construction and maintenance projects from start to completion. • Determines whether projects should be completed in-house or through subcontractors. • Provides on-site supervision and participates in field construction activities. • Develops project scopes, cost estimates, material lists, and project schedules. • Assists with procurement activities, bidding processes, contractor selection, and contract administration. • Reviews contractor proposals and project bids to ensure quality services and competitive pricing. • Coordinates subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers on City projects. • Reads and interprets blueprints, plans, drawings, and technical specifications. • Inspects completed work to ensure compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and City requirements. • Monitors project budgets, timelines, material inventories, and project progress. • Maintains project records, reports, work logs, and related documentation. • Troubleshoots facility and infrastructure issues and initiates corrective actions as needed. • Provides training and guidance to employees regarding construction methods, equipment operation, and safety procedures. • Operates construction tools, vehicles, and light to heavy equipment as required. • Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and City safety policies. • Responds to emergency repairs involving City facilities and infrastructure. • Communicates project status, recommendations, and concerns to supervisors and City leadership. • Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or GED required. • Experience in construction, public works, building maintenance, or a closely related field required. • Supervisory or crew leadership experience preferred. • Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and safety practices. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and technical drawings. • Experience estimating project costs, scheduling work, and coordinating multiple projects preferred. • Ability to supervise and direct crews while performing hands-on work. • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills. • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field. • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the City's insurer. • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation and drug screening.

Pay: From $59,000.00 per year
