Cleans and maintains buildings; maintains building log (whether manual or digital) and documents the completion of tasks; inspects the assigned facility to insure that maintenance is in accordance with department standards; checks phone regularly while on duty for updates regarding work assignments.
Sweeps, vacuums and dust mops assigned areas and rooms; cleans windows; rakes leaves.
Removes trash from rooms and buildings; picks up litter; cleans parking lots.
Scrubs and cleans restrooms including mirrors, wash basins, commodes, etc.; fills tissue, towel and soap dispensers.
Dusts furniture, walls, window sills and other woodwork; removes graffiti from walls.
Performs simple building maintenance work; makes minor repairs; assists with building and ground maintenance.
Waxes and buffs floors; mops hallways; strips and waxes floors; cleans locker rooms.
Prepares rooms for meetings and special events.
Helps transport cleaning equipment and supplies; restocks cleaning supplies.
Ensures restrooms and lunch areas are adequately supplied.
Follows all LEED housekeeping procedures for all City LEED certified facilities.
Operates buffing machines and other custodial equipment.
Performs related tasks as required.
Required to possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the tenth grade (including ability to read, write, and perform simple math). Three (3) months of custodial experience, building maintenance or closely related experience is required. Valid Florida driver license is required. Also required to be available to work a flexible schedule to include various days, evenings, weekends, special events, overtime, and/or holidays based on the department's need.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
Ability to perform manual work.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Ability to read, write, perform simple math, and use digital applications.
