The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general building repairs and maintenance to support a warehouse, cold-storage, and fulfillment facility. This role ensures the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of the building by repairing structural components, performing basic plumbing and electrical tasks, maintaining dock areas, and supporting cold-storage building integrity (excluding HVAC work). The technician will conduct routine inspections, respond to repair requests, and help uphold safety and regulatory standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections of the facility and identify building repair needs.
- Repair and maintain interior and exterior building components including walls, ceilings, doors, flooring, windows, and dock areas.
- Conduct basic plumbing work such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing fixtures.
- Perform basic electrical tasks including replacing light bulbs, switches, and outlets (non-licensed work).
- Maintain dock equipment such as dock plates, dock bumpers, and seals.
- Repair and maintain racking systems, shelving, and general warehouse structures.
- Complete minor carpentry, painting, patching, and general facility upkeep.
- Maintain cooler/freezer door seals, insulated panels, and structural parts of cold-storage areas (not HVAC-related).
- Ensure building and grounds remain clean, safe, and compliant with company and safety standards.
- Accurately complete and update work orders; communicate repair status to supervisors.
- Assist with vendors for specialized repairs when needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
- Ability to work at heights using ladders or lifts.
- Ability to work in cold-storage environments (down to –10°F) for short or extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to use tools and perform repairs safely.
Work Environment:
- Comfortable working in various environments, including cold storage (cooler: 34°F - 65°F, freezer: -10°F–0°F)
- Noise levels may vary depending on warehouse activity and machinery
- Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holiday shifts, depending on operational needs
- May involve working indoors, outdoors, at heights and in tight spaces.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in building or facility maintenance.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building repair.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in refrigerated and freezer environments when necessary.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to follow written and verbal instructions.
