Building Maintenance

The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general building repairs and maintenance to support a warehouse, cold-storage, and fulfillment facility. This role ensures the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of the building by repairing structural components, performing basic plumbing and electrical tasks, maintaining dock areas, and supporting cold-storage building integrity (excluding HVAC work). The technician will conduct routine inspections, respond to repair requests, and help uphold safety and regulatory standards

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections of the facility and identify building repair needs.
• Repair and maintain interior and exterior building components including walls, ceilings, doors, flooring, windows, and dock areas.
• Conduct basic plumbing work such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing fixtures.
• Perform basic electrical tasks including replacing light bulbs, switches, and outlets (non-licensed work).
• Maintain dock equipment such as dock plates, dock bumpers, and seals.
• Repair and maintain racking systems, shelving, and general warehouse structures.
• Complete minor carpentry, painting, patching, and general facility upkeep.
• Maintain cooler/freezer door seals, insulated panels, and structural parts of cold-storage areas (not HVAC-related).
• Ensure building and grounds remain clean, safe, and compliant with company and safety standards.
• Accurately complete and update work orders; communicate repair status to supervisors.
• Assist with vendors for specialized repairs when needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
• Ability to work at heights using ladders or lifts.
• Ability to work in cold-storage environments (down to –10°F) for short or extended periods.
• Manual dexterity to use tools and perform repairs safely.

Work Environment:

• Comfortable working in various environments, including cold storage (cooler: 34°F - 65°F, freezer: -10°F–0°F)
• Noise levels may vary depending on warehouse activity and machinery
• Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holiday shifts, depending on operational needs
• May involve working indoors, outdoors, at heights and in tight spaces.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in building or facility maintenance.
• Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building repair.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in refrigerated and freezer environments when necessary.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Reliable, safety-focused, and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Experience:

• Welding: 1 year (Preferred)
• Warehouse Maintenance: 1 year (Required)
• Ammonia refrigeration: 1 year (Preferred)
