Building Maintenance / Facilities Management Service Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Building Maintenance / FM Service Manager to join Symtrex in a hybrid role—combining hands-on engineering with responsibility for managing contracts, engineers, and subcontractors.

This is an ideal opportunity for a senior engineer ready to step up, or an existing manager who still enjoys being on the tools and staying close to the work.

The Role

You’ll split your time between on-site engineering and operational management, ensuring high standards are delivered across multiple client sites.

• Overseeing PPM and reactive maintenance across contracts
• Managing and supporting engineers
• Coordinating and supervising subcontractors
• Attending sites to carry out fault finding, repairs, and specialist works
• Quoting for remedial and small works
• Client liaison and relationship management
• Ensuring compliance, reporting, and service delivery standards

What We’re Looking For

We want someone who is:

• A strong all-round engineer (HVAC mechanical & electrical)
• Comfortable leading from the front—both managing and doing
• Highly organised and able to prioritise across multiple sites
• Professional, trustworthy, and client-focused
• Adaptable with a proactive, problem-solving mindset

Requirements

• Proven experience in commercial building maintenance / FM
• Strong knowledge of M&E building services systems
• Relevant qualifications (MEP / A/C)
• Experience managing engineers or subcontractors
• Ability to quote and scope works
• Full UK driving licence
