Building Maintenance Technician
Presque Isle, ME – FT/Days –Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
Job Description:
Immediate opening for a Building Maintenance Technician to join a locally managed residential property team. Employee will enjoy an excellent daytime schedule and full range of benefits, including PTO, paid holidays, a 403(b) retirement plan, short-term disability coverage, and medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Full-Time/Days; 7 AM – 4 PM, Mon – Thurs, 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM Fri, with some weekend availability required. $20.50 - $24.00/hr.
The Building Maintenance Technician will ensure a safe and attractive environment for residents and staff. Employee will be responsible for the upkeep and repair of residential units, common areas, and property grounds. Ideal candidate will have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and proven knowledge of how to maintain residential and public facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine janitorial and groundskeeping duties as scheduled.
- Respond to requests for maintenance assistance in a professional and timely manner.
- Clean unoccupied units during turnover periods, properly addressing any damage or waste left behind by the prior tenant.
- Carry out any building repairs and maintenance not requiring a professional license, such as drywall repair, painting, basic carpentry, and minor electrical and plumbing fixes.
- Coordinate with professional contractors, such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians and masons to complete more advanced repairs and maintenance projects.
- Oversee snow removal, lawncare, and other seasonal groundskeeping as needed.
- Coordinate and conduct property inspections to ensure that the condition of all units and common areas complies with the organization’s standards, local property codes, and state law.
- Inspect systems such as fire extinguishers, fire alarms, boiler rooms and other common areas on a regular basis.
- Be safety conscious at all times; follow all jobsite safety procedures as directed and report potential hazards or incidents to appropriate personnel.
- Participate in on-call staff rotation, including off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent education. Advanced education or professional training in building trades highly valued.
- At least 2-3 years of professional maintenance and/or custodial experience.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform tasks in tight spaces.
- Background check required.
Schedule: Full-Time/Days; 7 AM – 4 PM, Mon – Thurs, 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM Fri, with some weekend availability required.
Pay: $20.50 - $24.00/hr.; benefits available after temp-to-hire period.
