Building Maintenance Technician

About the Role

We are looking for a dependable and experienced Building Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance and operation of our portfolio of commercial and industrial properties. In this hands-on role, you will help ensure our buildings operate safely, efficiently, and reliably by performing preventative maintenance, assisting tenants with maintenance needs, and coordination with contractors and vendors.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and maintaining high standards for building performance and tenant satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance for building systems and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance issues and ensure optimal building conditions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues when possible.
  • Respond to and complete tenant service requests through the work order system.
  • Coordinate and escort contractors and vendors during onsite work.
  • Assist with and supervise repairs related to minor capital improvement projects.
  • Maintain documentation related to building conditions, maintenance activities, and project planning.
  • Report unusual activities, deficiencies or safety concerns to the Chief Engineer or Property Manager.
  • Supervise operational and trades staff when required.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in on-call emergency response as needed.

Qualifications


Education
  • Community College diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience & Skills
  • 2–3 years of experience in construction, building maintenance, or building operations.
  • Experience working on Class A office properties.
  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and sprinkler systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and tenant service skills.
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety practices.
  • Operating knowledge of workplace tools such as building automation systems, preventative maintenance systems, fire alarms, and life safety systems.
  • Ability to work at heights > 6', lift 50 lbs unassisted, work in small or confined spaces, and stay on your feet for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance if required.
