Building Porter / Maintenance Technician
Type: Full-Time
We are seeking a dependable and proactive Building Porter / Maintenance Technician to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and day-to-day operations of a commercial property. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, responsiveness to tenant needs, and flexibility to handle evolving building priorities.
Core Responsibilities
Daily
- Maintain lobby, elevators, stairwells, vestibule, courtyard, and exterior perimeter
- Clean glass doors and revolving door
- Vacuum, mop, sweep, and remove trash
- Clean and restock restroom supplies
- Assist tenants with building-related requests
- Coordinate with vendors as needed
- Check lighting and ensure doors are secured
- Maintain building supply inventory
Weekly
- Clean sidewalk and mop stairwells
- Inspect roof drains
- Inspect mechanical rooms (Fire Pump, Boiler, Electrical)
- Confirm weekly generator test run
- Clean elevator machine area
Monthly / Semiannual
- Inspect fire extinguishers
- Review supply inventory
- Maintain grease traps (semiannual)
Additional Duties
- Support fire drills (FLSD duties)
- Assist with vendor work, inspections, emergencies, and special projects
- Perform other building-related tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Prior experience in building maintenance, porter, or facilities role preferred
- Basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC, boiler, electrical, etc.) a plus
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
- Ability to lift up to [insert weight] pounds
- Strong communication skills and professionalism with tenants and vendors
- FLSD certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred
This role requires flexibility. Responsibilities may expand based on operational needs.
Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
