Overview
Join our vibrant team as a Building Support/Open Door Group Leader in the afternoons, where your energy and dedication will create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for children and youth. In this role, you will lead open-door group activities, foster positive relationships, and support the overall well-being and development of young participants. Your enthusiasm will inspire confidence and promote a sense of community, ensuring every child feels valued and supported during their time with us.
Duties
- Facilitate engaging afternoon activities that promote social, emotional, and spiritual growth in children and youth
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment by implementing effective behavior management strategies
- Support classroom management and assist with daily routines to ensure smooth operations
- Collaborate with staff to develop inclusive programs tailored to diverse needs, including those with special education requirements
- Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and team members regarding participant progress and concerns
- Ensure safety protocols are followed diligently, including administering basic first aid when necessary
- Encourage participation in recreational activities such as sports coaching, theater arts, or other creative outlets to foster teamwork and confidence
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children or in childcare settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or babysitting roles
- Current Drivers License or State ID
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques
- Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively and maintain a positive environment
- Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Experience with special education or working with children with diverse needs is a plus
- Strong communication skills to engage children, parents, and team members clearly and compassionately
- Passion for supporting the growth of young people through nurturing guidance and active involvement
