A BMS has the responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all aspects of the external client SPM Maintenance contract. The BMS (depending on the contract structure) will be the principal point of contact for Vessel Masters and other sea-going staff on all operational matters affecting the SPM Maintenance contract. Unless specifically authorized to the contrary, all communication with the Client is to be channelled through the IRM/ Works/ Project/Contract Manager (as the case may be).
The BMS is responsible for verifying the SPM Terminal is being maintained in accordance with the Maintenance Plan, Terms and Conditions of the contract, External Client and Customer expectations.
They have the overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all Diving inspection & maintenance activities.
Duties and responsibilities:

Ensure SPM operational readiness by management of local and / or expatriate divers, riggers, technicians for work conducted at the SPM export terminals as well as diving / ROV related activities.

Perform and record inductions for any person visiting the SPM for the first time, and on the job training of personnel in all relevant tasks on the job associated with SPM maintenance and tanker operations.

Activities Training and record keeping by managing and planning all dive interventions, keeping all equipment Certified and in a meticulous state in order to ensure compliance with the IMCA regulations.

To support IRM/Works/ Project/Contract Manager (as the case may be) in the execution of Services Agreements.

Ensures that all operations and maintenance works are carried out in a safe and responsible manner that will not impact on safety, cause any damage to assets, or harm the environment in any way.

To ensure that the topside and subsea maintenance inspection of the SPM is performed as per client / vendor and or recognised international regulations.

To ensure the updating of statutory and quality certification and testing to comply with regulations and the Planned Maintenance System.

Management and planning of the operations and maintenance of the ROV(s) in accordance with the approved Planned Maintenance System and ensuring the ROV and ancillary equipment are always ready for use.

Management and planning of Planned Maintenance System, specifically the keeping of the equipment in a meticulous state and fully certified in terms of statutory regulations at all times.

Maintain and update records and schedules of the SPM, works performed, ancillary equipment and spare parts, as per CLASS compliance requirements.

Updating and keeping of records of the mooring hawsers, hoses, ancillary equipment, tanker baskets, etc., with special regard to testing and certification.

Submission of Reports on operational readiness of the SPM(s) including pre / post berthing inspections and routine inspections of the SPM’s as per the PMS.

Maintenance of the mooring hawsers and hoses; planning of change outs and routine dive interventions in consultation with the O&M Superintendent.

Develop detailed work instructions and risk assessments for specific tasks as required.

Ensure all works are executed in accordance with the approved Permit to Work system.

Providing support services during oil pollution response, in particular to the smaller vessels, liaising closely with the On-Scene Commander and O&M Superintendent.

Ensure all client and company assets are maintained in compliance with governing body and local legislation, client and company expectations and that they are maintained in a state of operational readiness.

Understand the job requirements and where necessary identify new skills, techniques and processes that compliment his knowledge and advance the company business.

Management of all health, safety, and environmental issues in respect to all operations, hose connections, and routine SPM maintenance activities.

Keeping of the Hose end connection equipment in a meticulous state and fully certified in terms of statutory regulations at all times.

Find ways to promote Asset Integrity and cost efficiencies for both the Company and the Client.

Creates and ensures Daily Progress, Progress, Completion and Audit Reports are technically accurate and 100% complete on time.

Be accountable for planning future tasks ahead of those to be done today.

Ensure all Client and company assets pertaining to SPM Maintenance are maintained in compliance with governing body and local legislation, client and company expectations and that they are maintained in a state of operational readiness.
Experience
-
Experience in the removal of existing SPM system (as a whole or the components thereof. e.g. floating hoses, subsea hoses, buoy, mooring chains, HPU, Nav. aids, etc)

Hands on experience with tanker operations
-
Hands on experience with trouble shooting and repairing mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment.

Spent time working as crew on / maintaining vessels (nice to have)

Experience in fabrication of steel components and integration of vendor equipment into mechanical components, ideally shipyard or machine/ fabrication shop. (nice to have)

Have a thorough Mechanical, Electrical and hydraulic understanding of all components of the buoy and know how to maintain, remove, or repair the same.
Competencies
-
Tertiary Qualification in a technical field (preferably diploma in either electrical or mechanical disciplines) / Practical training served by time spent working on offshore mechanical facilities (min 6 years) in a technical capacity.

IMCA dive certificate or similar internationally accepted certification

IMCA dive supervisor ticket (nice to have)

Ability to be Client facing and represent KOTUG Subsea professionally in Client Meetings and on site.

Computer literate with good knowledge of MS word and MS Excel (CAD / graphic design, MS PowerPoint and scheduling software an advantage)
