Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained at all times
- Assist dentists during complex procedures such as surgeries, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, documenting medical history, vital signs, and treatment details in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently
- Educate patients on post-treatment care and dental terminology to promote understanding and compliance
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by adhering to infection control procedures and sterilization protocols
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for medical documentation and records management
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
- Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable; certification in pediatric or sedation dentistry is a plus
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes in accordance with OSHA guidelines
