Business Administration Assistant – Entry Level / Recent Graduate

Based in Sacramento since 1996, we work with federal government clients to support large-scale environmental projects, including groundwater cleanup programs. Our team includes scientists, programmers, and administrators who help improve workflows through technology, organization, and reliable administrative support.



About the Role



Synectics is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Business Administration Assistant to support our administrative, accounting, and office operations.

This role may be a good fit for a recent graduate or a student close to graduation who is interested in building practical experience in business administration, accounting support, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, invoicing, and general office operations.

We are looking for someone organized, reliable, energetic, and comfortable learning new processes. This position will start with routine administrative and office support tasks and may grow into more complex accounting and operations responsibilities over time.



Responsibilities



  • Assist with general office operations, including mail, deliveries, supplies, scanning, filing, document organization, and basic office coordination.
  • Help maintain administrative trackers, checklists, records, folders, and internal documentation.
  • Support travel and logistics coordination, including hotel confirmations, travel packets, and related administrative follow-up.
  • Assist with basic accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and invoicing support tasks under supervision.
  • Help organize accounting/admin documentation, including receipts, payment records, and invoice support materials.
  • Assist with routine vendor follow-ups, supply orders, and internal coordination.
  • Draft simple emails, summaries, reminders, and status updates for review.
  • Help improve organization, tracking, and workflow consistency as processes are learned over time.
  • Support other administrative, office, accounting support, and operations tasks as assigned.



Qualifications



  • Recent graduate or early-career candidate in Business Administration, Business Management, Operations Management, Office Administration, or a related field.
  • Accounting coursework is required, such as introductory accounting, financial accounting, bookkeeping, or similar classes.
  • Interest in bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, accounting support, and business operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to follow instructions carefully.
  • Basic Excel/spreadsheet skills.
  • Professional communication skills and willingness to ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Comfortable supporting a variety of administrative, office, accounting support, and operations-related tasks.
  • Prior office, administrative, bookkeeping, accounting, or customer service experience is helpful but not required.



Preferred Skills



  • Recently completed or close to completing a business-related degree, certificate, or coursework.
  • Interested in learning how business operations, accounting support, invoicing, and office administration work in a real company setting.



Pay range and compensation package



There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, number of people reporting to you, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
