We are working with a South West based local authority who are seeking a proactive and collaborative Business Analyst to review, analyse and redesign end-to-end business processes from a customer-focused perspective to support moving our NEC Revenues & Benefits System to the cloud (Software As A Service).

Location: Southwest based Authority

Set-up: Hybrid

Rate: £450/day via umbrella, inside IR35

Duration: 6 months - subject to extension

Hours: Part-time - 18.5 hours per week

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyse business functions, gather information, benchmark practices and translate findings into clear, actionable business requirements
  • Produce workflow charts, diagrams, 'as-is' and 'to-be' process maps, user stories, specifications and other documentation to support process redesign
  • Identify improvements to systems and processes by studying current practices, diagnosing issues, designing modifications and recommending appropriate controls
  • Support project delivery by defining project milestones and phases, validating resource needs, and communicating the financial and operational impacts of proposed changes
  • Facilitate successful implementation of redesigned processes by supporting knowledge transfer, enabling continuous improvement, and building strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience analysing business systems and end-to-end processes, with the ability to translate complex information into clear requirements
  • Strong skills in process mapping, workflow design and producing business analysis documentation (e.g., use cases, user stories, product backlogs)
  • Understanding of IT solution design and implementation, with the ability to assess how technology can enable improved business processes
  • Experience working within project teams, contributing to project planning, resource estimation and impact assessment
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to support change adoption and continuous process improvement
