Maryland Auto Insurance seeks candidates to fill a part-time, contractual role in our Internship Program within the IT-Business Analytics Department. This is a part time position with a maximum of 29 hours per week for 8 weeks this summer starting June 8, 2026. This position is hybrid with both virtual and in office work. The candidate will be required to come into the office a minimum of once per week. Wednesday(s) will be a required in office day for educational lunch and learn sessions.

The Business Analyst Intern will report directly to the Business Analyst and Chief Information Officer providing direct support via data analysis to the various departments throughout the organization. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of SQL, Microsoft 365 suite programs, and Microsoft Power BI as well as a demonstrated ability to successfully communicate with co-workers at all organizational levels, establish and meet deadlines, and participate in business unit operational discussions

Major Responsibilities:

  • Able to successfully transition to unfamiliar business and systems domains with guidance.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills to enable productive collaboration with cross-functional team members and management.
  • Use, leverage, and enhance proficiency with corporate and job specific technology as it evolves (e.g., hardware, software, business unit applications and systems tools).
  • Remain energized and focused in the face of ambiguity, change or strenuous demands.
  • Ensure that requirements are understood and approved by all stakeholders.
  • Manage requirement traceability and changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Understand how requirements will be approached and managed for a particular project following best practices.
  • Follow requirements work plans, understand task dependencies, and follow change management processes.
  • Assist in formulating and defining systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with a basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements.
  • Include analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revise existing system logic as necessary with management guidance.
  • Ability to competently consider a broad scope of business implications through the application of technology to the current business environment.
  • Able to propose, create, and maintain measurement & monitoring methods for workflow processes and business results.
  • Managing competing resources and priorities and monitor deliverables to ensure consistent timely completion of projects.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Pursuit of bachelor's degree or equivalent professional certification in Computer Science or Business Administration.
  • Some work experience in data or business analysis programs including Microsoft 365 Suite, particularly Excel, and Microsoft Power BI. Experience and understanding of SQL is highly preferred. Demonstrated skills should include problem solving, project management, trend analysis and the creation of presentation materials.

This position does not supervise other employees. This is a part‑time, non‑benefited position with core hours scheduled during regular business hours. Specific hours will be finalized at the time of hire.
