Business and Solution Analyst

General Summary:
Business and Solution Analyst will interface directly with IT (application and infrastructure teams), Data Management, Information Security, and Innovation Business Partners to develop and support the deployment of high quality, integrated and efficient solutions . They will support project engagements and act as a liaison between business and technical units to design a solution to satisfy business, technical, architectural and security requirements. They will also work closely with the Business Analyst or directly with Business Units to verify an optimized solution based on current requirements or current processes. They will own the design and validation of new or existing BU processes, services and integrations within the Bank’s Enterprise Ecosystem.

  • To work closely and engage professionally with Business Unit Owners (BUO), BA (business analyst), IBP and /or their subject matter experts to obtain desired solutions in discharging Solution Analyst work requirements.
  • Communicating with business and technology leaders, both within and outside the organization
  • Provide solution analysis and design to internal and external resources during selection and implementation of information systems and applications:
    • Provide technical leadership in the analysis, decision-making, design, and support phases of application implementation
    • Evaluate vendor projects and prepare recommendations:
      • Understanding interrelationships and impact of systems and applications upon the To-Be technical environment
      • Perform problem analysis, identify root causes, outline resolution options and provide recommendation and take appropriate actions to resolve problems
      • Validate technical solutions being proposed by vendors
      • Plan technical solutions that provide availability, reliability, stability, manageability, and scalability
  • Serving as advisor to business management on business and information integration strategies
  • Influencing business strategy
  • Understanding technology product and vendor strategies, products, and customer preferences
  • Synchronization of IT strategy and planning with the organization's existing and future business goals to product implementation
  • Promotion of shared applications and infrastructure to cut expenditures and enhance the flow of information
  • Work with Business units to design and validate new business processes
  • Provide quality assurance to assure solution alignment with our Data Architecture practices.
  • Supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization and Commissioning and decommissioning of data sets.
  • Assessing tests and implementing new or upgraded software

  • Be the solutions analyst to provide an opinion based enterprise solution that is flexible, scalable and capable of synchronizing with continuously changing business requirements
  • Implementing strategy for enabling reuse (e.g., shared services) across the enterprise and multiple projects.
  • Ensure Integration best practices and integrate with BoG’s Architectures
  • Perform R&D, frequently testing to determine if a project will be cost-effective at providing a business capability.
  • Keep Bank of Guam standards current with technology and determining the impact of hardware and/or software upgrades on new and existing applications.
  • Create and enforce architectural standards that ensure systems/applications interoperate
    • Assure and audit that Bank of Guam architecture principles and standards applied
    • Partner with client groups (Business and IT) to provide architecture and technology support to projects – ensure projects maintain an enterprise view
  • Assisting in aligning business and enterprise initiatives with the Data Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Security Architecture and Digital Strategy
  • Analyzing project, architectural, data and security requirements to validate technical designs
  • Working with Application Teams to develop a design to meet their needs with consideration all other enterprise applications
  • Identifying integration opportunities and patterns to optimize business processes
  • Interfacing with Data Architect and Enterprise Architect to validate designs and integrations
  • Designing and Testing custom APIs
  • Interfacing with vendor provided APIs
  • Understand DevOps Practices (GIT, Pipelines and Testing)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Good business knowledge about the developed/developing architecture
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills, such as servant leadership, facilitation, collaboration and negotiation

  • Ability to understand and translate customer requirements into industry-proven design patterns and recommendations
  • IT governance and operation knowledge
  • In-depth expertise in software, hardware and systems engineering

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field of study or certification from an approved technical field of study, or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required 2 years as Lead Solution Design and implementation experience implementing solutions demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline or technology
  • Proven ability to architect, design and implement cloud-based and/or cloud-native solutions
  • Hands-on experience deploying and configuring both Windows and Linux system stacks
  • Hands-on experience configuring supporting common infrastructure roles and tools (e.g.: DNS, NTP, Group Policy, Active Directory/ADFS, Web Application Firewalls, logging services, web proxies)
  • Hands-on experience with the development of automation scripts, container services or serverless compute highly preferred
  • Experience with General Project Management and Agile Methodologies
  • 2+ years’ experience business process modeling and optimization using business automation tools
  • 1+ years’ experience with API integration and service design
  • 1+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance testing and Requirement Management
