Business Development and Marketing Specialist (digital and local)

Brooklyn, United States

Marketing & Business Development SpecialistMind Body Seven Institute - Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid)

Employment Structure:

  • Months 1-6: 1099 Contractor (Probationary Period)
  • Month 7+: Full-time W-2 Employee with Benefits

Compensation: Competitive base salary plus significant performance bonuses (10-60%+ of base), program launch bonuses

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a hands-on marketing leader and natural relationship builder to drive growth for our established Brooklyn mental health practice as we launch three major new offerings:

  • Integrative Psychiatry Clinical Program - comprehensive root-cause mental health care
  • Practitioner Training Program - professional education for healthcare providers
  • Supplement Store - curated, evidence-based products

This isn't a typical marketing manager role. You'll oversee and write weekly emails and blogs, manage our marketing work with agencies and freelancers, attend networking events 2-4x per month, organize practice workshops, collaborate with our external marketing agency, and personally build these programs from concept to revenue.

You'll own the results. Our agency handles technical execution (SEO, paid social, PPC), but you're the strategic quarterback who writes content, builds relationships, catches errors, and drives growth. When you need help, you hire freelancers (video editors, designers, etc.). When campaigns need optimization, you collaborate with the agency to improve them.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Content Creation & Digital Marketing (25%)

You're writing content weekly - this is hands-on work:

  • Write and send weekly email campaigns that convert
  • Create 3-5 social media posts per week
  • Write 1-2 blog posts per week
  • Craft copy for landing pages, ads, and campaigns
  • Manage email list growth and social media community
  • Own email marketing strategy end-to-end
  • A/B test and optimize everything based on data
  • Catch all errors before content goes live (you're the quality gatekeeper)

Networking & Business Development (25%)

You're naturally social and love building relationships:

  • Attend 1-3 networking events per month (healthcare, wellness, professional communities)
  • Organize and host 1-2 practice event per month (workshops, open houses, educational sessions)
  • Build referral relationships with therapists, physicians, wellness practitioners
  • Develop joint venture partnerships with complementary businesses
  • Create and nurture referral source database
  • Represent the practice at community and industry events
  • Build strategic partnerships that drive patient acquisition
  • Track referral sources and optimize partnerships

Agency Collaboration & Vendor Management (20%)

Partner with our agency - you're the strategic hub:

  • Lead weekly strategy meetings with marketing agency
  • Provide content you've written to support their campaigns
  • Review and approve all agency deliverables before launch
  • Hold agency accountable to KPIs and performance targets
  • Consolidate reporting into unified dashboard for CEO
  • Manage additional vendors (video editors, designers, web developers, photographers)
  • Coordinate multiple contractors to execute cohesive strategy
  • This is collaborative leadership - you're connecting all the pieces

Lead Generation & Quality Control (15%)

You own the results across all channels:

  • Hit monthly targets for leads (digital + referral sources) and consultations
  • Review all marketing materials before they go live
  • Catch errors in campaigns, landing pages, forms, social posts
  • Test everything - forms, buttons, links, user experience
  • Track CAC, conversion rates, ROI across all channels
  • Continuously improve quality - don't settle for "good enough"
  • Build systems to prevent errors and optimize performance

Program Launches (10%)

Build three major programs from scratch:

  • Integrative Psychiatry Program: Write launch content, network with referring providers, host educational events, collaborate with agency on paid campaigns
  • Practitioner Training Program: Create marketing funnel, network at professional conferences, develop partnerships with associations, coordinate webinars
  • Supplement Store

Freelancer Management (5%)

Hire help when you need it:

  • Video editors for testimonials, social content, ads
  • Graphic designers for marketing materials
  • Photographers/videographers for events and content
  • Additional copywriters for high-volume periods
  • Brief clearly, review quality, ensure brand consistency

WHO YOU AREYou Have:

  • 5+ years marketing/business development experience with proven results
  • Strong writing skills - you create compelling emails, blogs, and social content
  • Networking expertise - track record of building referral sources and partnerships
  • Digital marketing chops - email, social media, content marketing, plus understanding of SEO/PPC

  • Obsessive attention to detail - you catch errors others miss
  • Freelancer management experience (video editors, designers, copywriters)

  • Experience launching new products/services/programs
  • Strong project management skills - juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Data-driven mindset - comfortable with analytics and optimization
  • Experience with email platforms (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot), social media tools, CRM systems

You Are:

  • An owner, not an employee - you take full responsibility for results
  • Naturally social - comfortable at events, building genuine relationships, working a room
  • An excellent writer - your content is compelling and converts
  • Obsessed with quality - errors are unacceptable; you test everything
