We are a busy private medical practice preparing to launch a comprehensive wound care program. To ensure full compliance, operational excellence, and adherence to all relevant standards, we are seeking an experienced Wound Care Clinic Consultant to guide our team through the full setup process.
Position Overview
The Consultant will serve as a project lead and subject matter expert to establish a wound care service line from the ground up. This includes ensuring compliance with federal, state, and OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and Medicare/CMS billing and documentation requirements, as well as implementing standardized clinical and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive start-up plan for a wound care clinic, including workflow design, staff training, and equipment selection.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA healthcare safety standards, including bloodborne pathogen procedures, hazard communication, infection control, and workplace safety programs osha.gov.
- Advise on state and federal compliance requirements per Office of Inspector General (OIG), CMS, and DOJ guidelines for healthcare operations epichealthcaremanagement.com.
- Develop proper coding, billing, and documentation workflows for wound care services (including Medicare, commercial insurance, and private pay).
- Establish policies and procedures for clinic operations, infection prevention, patient safety, and staff competencies.
- Provide guidance on clinical space setup, including safety signage, biohazard disposal, PPE availability, and emergency procedures.
- Create training and reference materials consistent with professional and legal standards.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure seamless integration of wound care services into existing practice operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience setting up or consulting for wound care centers or hospital-based wound clinics.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, CMS, HIPAA, and healthcare facility regulations jacksonllp.com.
- Strong background in clinical operations, compliance management, and billing optimization.
- Ability to create clear, implementable policies and training programs.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
