We are seeking a results-driven Director of Business Development to lead census growth strategy, cultivate a robust referral network, and serve as the primary brand ambassador to the clinical and recovery community across the region and beyond. We are hiring for this Director role for two sister facilities in the Recovery Alliance that are based in the Los Angeles Valley.
We're seeking a minimum of 5 years experience in this or a similar capacity in the behavioral health space.
What You'll Do:
The Director of Business Development is responsible for growing inpatient census across both Regal facilities through strategic outreach, referral development, and community partnerships. Reporting to Owners/Partners/CEO, you will own the full BD cycle, from prospecting to conversion, while representing the facilities' with professionalism and mission alignment. You come with business development experience in the addiction treatment center space and carry your own strategic relationships as well, while being able to work with the owners and their expansive network.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive referrals and grow census at both Los Angeles facilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with referral sources including hospitals, detox centers, ERs, sober living operators, therapists, psychiatrists, primary care physicians, EAPs, and case managers
- Conduct regular in-person outreach visits, educational presentations, and community events throughout the greater Los Angeles region
- Track and manage a robust referral pipeline using CRM tools; report weekly census and BD metrics to leadership
- Collaborate closely with admissions and clinical teams to ensure seamless intake and strong conversion of referrals to admissions
- Represent Regal Recovery Alliance at regional conferences, industry networking events, and professional associations
- Identify new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and underserved referral channels
- Serve as a passionate ambassador for Regal's mission, values, and luxury clinical model
- Support marketing initiatives and contribute to brand visibility across the Southern California behavioral health market
You're a Fit if You Have
- A consultative partnerships mindset: you educate, align, and solve without pressure
- Strong understanding of the RTC continuum of care and referral ecosystem (or the ability to learn it quickly)
- Comfort discussing private-pay positioning and insurance access with accuracy and discretion
- Excellent follow-up discipline and communication (email, phone, in-person)
Required Qualifications
- 5 years or more of business development experience in residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment
- Deep knowledge of the detox and residential rehab continuum of care
- Established network in the California behavioral health community, preferably also nationwide
- Pre-existing relationships with corporate HR/benefits departments, unions, hospitals, ERs, sober living facilities, and/or behavioral health providers
- Demonstrated track record of census growth and referral conversion
- Strong understanding of insurance verification, utilization review, and admissions workflows
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with some kind of CRM
- Valid California driver's license, clean MVR, and reliable transportation
- Working knowledge of dual diagnosis, MAT, and other treatment models
- Personal or professional connection to the recovery community
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
Week in the life of a Business Development Manager
- 6–12 partner meetings (in-person/virtual) with targeted referral sources
- 1 facility tour or program introduction (for clinicians, interventionists, or professional partners)
- 1 partner education touchpoint (micro-training, lunch-and-learn, case consult availability, or resource share)
- Daily coordination with Admissions on fit and availability
- 2–3 hours/week of progress input + reporting (pipeline stages, notes, follow-ups, and next steps) via CRM
- 2-3 community or professional event/month (or hosted partner gathering)
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary plus performance incentives, travel support, professional development support, and other benefits.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
Work Location: Throughout the Los Angeles metro area and beyond
