Business Development Director – Defense SATCOM (Confidential)

Location: Rockville, MD (Onsite)
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive base salary + bonus + commission

About the Role

We are partnered with a rapidly growing international defense technology company that is launching its U.S. operations. The team has developed a breakthrough tactical satellite communication device that is small, rugged, and designed for military users.

We are hiring three Business Development Directors to focus on the Army, Navy, and Air Force markets. Each person will own their branch, build customer relationships, and help introduce a new SATCOM capability to U.S. defense customers.

This is a confidential search for a senior-level role with major growth potential.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all BD and sales activities for your assigned service branch (Army, Navy, or Air Force)
  • Build relationships with program offices, requirements teams, and operational units
  • Identify opportunities, shape requirements, and support proposal efforts
  • Conduct product demos, field visits, briefings, and customer meetings
  • Represent the company at industry events, exercises, and conferences
  • Provide customer feedback to internal leadership and engineering
  • Work in a fast-moving, startup-style environment with high autonomy

What We’re Looking For

Candidates must have:

  • 10+ years of SATCOM experience (military or defense industry)
  • Strong understanding of SATCOM systems, terminals, radios, waveforms, and use cases
  • Existing relationships within your branch (Army, Navy, or Air Force)
  • Experience working with DoD acquisition, requirements, and funding processes
  • Proven success in Business Development or Sales for defense technology
  • Experience with tactical radios, satellite terminals, MILSATCOM programs, or C5ISR systems
  • Ability to travel regularly for demos and customer visits
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Former Army Signal Corps, Navy N6, Air Force 17X/13S, or Space Force comms roles
  • Previous work in a startup or small defense tech company
  • Active Secret or TS clearance
