About the Role

We are looking for a Business Development Engineer (BDE) focused on front-end new business generation for our industrial automation and electrical panel solutions.

The BDE will:

  • Generate new leads from industry, tender portals and networks
  • Coordinate with OEM partners and distributors for leads
  • Qualify opportunities and pass them to Sales Engineers / KAMs / Proposal team
  • Ensure no good enquiry is missed or delayed

This is a “hunter” role – ideal for someone proactive, energetic and comfortable reaching out to new customers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Market Research & Lead Generation

  • Identify potential customers in process industries, OEMs, EPCs, consultants across target geographies.
  • Generate leads through:
  • Cold calling, emails, LinkedIn
  • Visits to industrial areas and parks
  • References and networking
  • Coordination with OEM partners and distributors (automation, switchgear, panels, etc.) for shared leads and joint opportunities.
  • Maintain and regularly update a prospect database with company details, contact persons and segments.

2. Tender Scouting & Enquiry Identification

  • Regularly monitor tender portals and websites (govt/PSU, EPCs, consultants, large end users, e-tendering platforms) to identify relevant tenders for:
  • MCC/PCC panels
  • PLC/DCS/SCADA systems
  • Electrical & control panels
  • Automation and related services.
  • Download, organise and share tender documents with the Sales / Proposal team with key highlights and deadlines.
  • Track tender calendars, due dates and pre-bid meetings; ensure important tenders are not missed.
  • Capture and share basic qualification details (EMD, eligibility, experience criteria, approved vendor lists, etc.) with management.

3. First Contact & Requirement Understanding

  • Make introductory calls/emails/visits to new prospects and leads received from OEMs/distributors/tenders.
  • Understand and document basic requirement details:
  • Type of requirement (panels, PLC/DCS/SCADA, retrofit, AMC, etc.)
  • Project/site location and timeline
  • Applicable standards/approvals if known (UL/CE/ATEX, etc.)
  • Key decision makers and influencers.
  • Qualify leads based on budget, authority, need and timeline (BANT) and hand over qualified opportunities to Sales Engineer / KAM.

4. Coordination & Follow-up

  • Work closely with Sales Engineers, Key Account Managers and Proposal team to:
  • Share lead background and requirement clearly
  • Follow up on proposal status and customer feedback
  • Arrange meetings, presentations, demos and plant visits.
  • Ensure timely follow-ups so that leads do not get cold.

5. Funnel Management & Reporting

  • Maintain a live lead and opportunity funnel in CRM/Excel/Google Sheets with status and next actions.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on:
  • New leads generated (by segment/source)
  • Tenders identified and acted upon
  • Meetings done and opportunities created
  • Conversions from lead to enquiry/order.
  • Share market feedback on pricing, competitors and customer preferences with management.

Eligibility / Qualifications

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma – Engineering (preferred: Electrical / Instrumentation) OR a graduate with strong technical aptitude.
  • 1–4 years of experience in B2B business development / inside sales / front-end sales for industrial or technical products.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with Hindi/Gujarati for local discussions.
  • Proactive, self-driven, comfortable with cold calling, field visits and regular follow-ups.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within and around Ahmedabad and occasionally to other locations.

Good to Have

  • Experience in business development for control panels, PLC/DCS/SCADA, electrical switchgear, instrumentation or industrial equipment.
  • Experience in scouting tenders on government / PSU / EPC / private tender portals.
  • Experience coordinating with OEM partners and distributors for shared leads and joint visits.
  • Familiarity with CRM / lead management tools or disciplined tracking in Excel/Google Sheets.

(Optional)

Freshers with excellent communication skills and strong interest in B2B industrial sales may be considered for a trainee role.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
