The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities that drive growth for Diamond Animal Health’s CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) services. This role combines strategic planning, relationship management, and technical understanding of biologics and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The ideal candidate is comfortable engaging with industry leaders, navigating complex projects, and representing Diamond Animal Health as a trusted partner throughout the customer lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities within the animal health industry, focusing on biologics, vaccines, and pharmaceutical development and manufacturing services.

Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients using CRM tools and industry networks.

Manage the end-to-end business development process: prospecting, introductory meetings, proposals, contracting, negotiation, and relationship management throughout the development lifecycle.

Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals tailored to client needs.

Lead pricing discussions and contract negotiations, ensuring alignment with internal capabilities and customer expectations.
Client Relationship Management
- Develop long-term, trust-based relationships with clients and key industry stakeholders.

Serve as a primary point of contact for new customers during early engagement through contract execution.

Organize and participate in client site visits, audits, and business reviews.

Ensure a smooth transition between business development and technical teams.
Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence
- Monitor animal health market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.

Provide insights and recommendations to leadership related to market positioning, service offerings, and growth opportunities.

Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to represent Diamond Animal Health.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Finance teams to scope projects and ensure feasibility.

Support proposal development, costing models, and contract structures.

Contribute to continuous improvement of customer experience, internal processes, and communication workflows.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.

3–7 years of experience in business development, account management, or technical sales—preferably in pharmaceuticals, biologics, or CDMO services.

Strong understanding of the biologics or pharmaceutical development process (R&D, scale-up, manufacturing, QC/QA, regulatory considerations).

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Proven ability to build relationships and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred
- Experience in the animal health industry.

Knowledge of USDA and/or FDA regulatory pathways for biological and pharmaceutical products.

CRM proficiency (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).

Existing network within veterinary pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
