Description:
Our client headquartered in Virginia is seeking a Business Development Manager based in Arlington. The position reports to the VP of Business Development and offers a hybrid workplace with two remote days. The Business Development Manager will utilize market research, existing personal contacts and in-person events to identify leads and drive the entire consultative business development life-cycle, as an individual contributor.
The ideal candidate has consultative sales experience in the defense market, including competitive analysis, requirements identification, technical solutions assessment and proposal development. Possesses proven project management, analytical, technical writing and communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Identify and cultivate new business opportunities in the defense industry and support all phases of the capture process

Lead cross-functional proposal development, pricing strategies and proposal creation

Identify requirements, assess technical solutions and generate White Papers and Proposals

Build and nurture trusted relationships with military partners and defense industry stakeholders to expand business opportunities

Serve as a trusted advisor, guiding potential customers on value proposition and products

Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop long-term strategic business development plans

Deliver reports and briefings on sales pipeline, highlighting opportunities, challenges and resolutions
Skills/Requirements:

Proficiency with government programs (ideally military, missile defense or space)

Exceptional prospecting, negotiation, presentation and consensus building skills

Experience with Requirements Gathering, Research and Technical Writing

Proven strategic planning and execution

Must be willing to travel to existing and prospective client locations, trade shows, conferences and industry events as required (up to 40%)
Qualifications:
-
8+ Years’ Product Business Development experience in the Defense industry (Product Development Engineering background a plus)

3+ Years of Capture Management (preferably Defense Systems)

Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year College or University

Must be US Citizen and eligible to obtain US DoD Secret Clearance (active clearance a plus)
