JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Manager with extensive garment factory experience is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying and securing new clients, expanding market share, and building long-term partnerships in the global apparel and textile industry. This role leverages deep production knowledge to offer end-to-end garment solutions—from design and fabric sourcing to manufacturing and logistics—while ensuring alignment with quality, compliance, and sustainability standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Garment Industry Strategy & Market Expansion

Develop and execute a business growth strategy for the garment manufacturing division.

Identify and target new markets: Uniforms (corporate, hotel, healthcare), Fast Fashion, Retail Brands, Private Labels, Sportswear, and Sustainable Apparel.

Analyze global fashion trends, fabric innovations, and consumer behavior to guide production planning.

2. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management

Prospect and onboard international brands, retailers, wholesalers, and government entities.

Build and maintain relationships with design houses, buying offices, sourcing agents, and fashion brands.

Conduct factory visits with clients to showcase capabilities, compliance, and quality systems.

Negotiate Long-Term Agreements (LTAs), Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and yearly production contracts.

3. Technical Sales & Product Development Support

Advise clients on fabric selection, garment construction, costing, and production feasibility.

Collaborate with design and production teams to develop tech packs, samples, and prototypes.

Present Value-Added Services: embroidery, printing, washing, finishing, and sustainable certifications.

Ensure client specifications are accurately translated into production orders.

4. Pricing, Costing & Contract Management

Prepare detailed cost sheets covering fabric, trims, labor, overhead, and profit margins.

Negotiate FOB, CIF, and LDP terms with international clients.

Manage Letter of Credit (LC) documentation and export/import compliance.

Oversake contract fulfillment from order confirmation to shipment.

5. Supply Chain & Vendor Coordination

Liaise with fabric mills, trim suppliers, and logistics partners to ensure timely material sourcing.

Develop and manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and compliance auditors.

Ensure adherence to lead times, quality standards, and ethical sourcing policies.

6. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Lead a team of Merchandisers, Sample Developers, and QA Coordinators.

Collaborate with Production, Quality Control, Design, and Logistics departments to ensure seamless order execution.

Train junior BD staff on garment industry practices, costing, and client management.

7. Reporting & Market Intelligence

Maintain a CRM pipeline of prospects, clients, and order status.

Provide monthly reports on sales targets, order book, market trends, and competitor activity.

Monitor global trade policies, tariffs, and sustainability regulations affecting the garment industry.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or International Trade.

MBA or Master’s in Supply Chain Management or Apparel Marketing preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 10 years in business development, sales, or account management within garment manufacturing, textiles, or apparel sourcing.

At least 5 years in a managerial role overseeing a team and P&L.

Proven track record of working with international brands (Europe, USA, GCC) in uniforms, fast fashion, or retail apparel.

Experience in Qatar or GCC garment industry is a strong advantage.

Industry Certifications (Preferred):

Certified Sourcing Professional (CSP)

Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma in Textiles

Sustainability Certifications: GOTS, OEKO-TEX, BCI

Export/Import Documentation Certification

TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Garment Production Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of apparel manufacturing processes: cutting, sewing, finishing, embroidery, printing, washing.

Understanding of fabric types: woven, knit, denim, technical textiles, sustainable fabrics.

Familiarity with garment costing software: Gerber, Optitex, or similar.

Compliance & Standards:

Knowledge of international compliance: WRAP, BSCI, SEDEX, ISO 9001.

Understanding of quality standards: AQL, ASTM, ISO.

Awareness of sustainable and ethical manufacturing practices.

Sales & Negotiation Tools:

Proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce, Zoho, HubSpot).

Advanced MS Excel for costing and analysis.

Experience with ERP systems in manufacturing.
