Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to lead our efforts in securing and managing government contracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the government procurement process, excellent relationship-building skills, and a proven track record of winning and managing government business opportunities. This role will focus on identifying new opportunities, responding to government RFPs, and fostering partnerships with key government agencies and prime contractors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, research, and pursue new business opportunities within federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with government clients, prime contractors, and industry partners.
  • Monitor government procurement portals and maintain awareness of upcoming Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other contracting opportunities.
  • Lead and coordinate the preparation and submission of proposals and bids, ensuring compliance with government regulations and requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (legal, finance, technical, operations) to develop competitive pricing and contract strategies.
  • Manage contract negotiations, modifications, and renewals.
  • Track and report on business development activities, pipeline status, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the company’s capabilities.
  • Stay current on government contracting regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Support post-award contract management activities, ensuring customer satisfaction and contract compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development with a focus on government contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of the government procurement process, FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), and related contracting rules.
  • Proven success in securing and managing government contracts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and government procurement portals.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances (if required).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the Department of Defense, DHS, GSA, or other federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with subcontracting and teaming agreements.
  • Understanding of government budget cycles and funding processes.
