As the Business Development & Marketing Specialist at the Better Business Bureau (BBB), you will play a hands-on role in driving revenue growth and strengthening BBB’s impact in the St. Louis market. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, this role is responsible for developing and executing non-dues revenue strategies, overseeing advertising and sponsorship programs, and supporting long-term website and digital marketing initiatives. The Business Development & Marketing Specialist serves as a trusted partner to Accredited Businesses and stakeholders, manages key revenue programs and vendor relationships, and drives initiatives that advance BBB’s mission while meeting financial goals. You will normally work 37.5 hours per week in our hybrid work environment - both from home and at the St. Louis BBB office.

Here is what you’ll do:

o Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and execute BBB’s long-term non-dues revenue strategy in St. Louis.

  • Meet all revenue expectations for BBB’s non-dues revenue programs in the St. Louis market.
  • Oversee and manage the following programs:
    • Search engine marketing (SES and SES+)
    • Torch Partnership ads
    • Participant invoicing
    • Account setup and management
  • Monitor Key reports to ensure timely payments
  • Use Monday.com SES/SES+ Boards for project management
  • Provide account management support to accredited advertisers to retain and expand advertising revenue.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding of new advertising accounts by coordinating with BBB staff and ad agencies.
  • Track and share monthly impression data for performance monitoring.
  • Work closely with the Communications team to implement branding and marketing strategies that drive revenue.
  • Generate AB prospect lists to share with MarCom
  • Monitor revenue and expense budgets, implementing strategies to meet financial goals.
  • Optimize vendor relationships to enhance program cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of BBB’s mission, vision, and its impact on business development and marketing efforts, while also understanding the needs of our primary customers—Accredited Businesses, charities, consumers, and staff—to effectively serve and support them.
  • Communicate effectively with Accredited Businesses, consumers, and BBB staff to ensure clarity and positive engagement.
  • Foster a positive departmental climate, motivate staff, and support daily operations.
  • Implement a self-development plan to enhance technical knowledge, organizational skills, and effectiveness.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and innovations in digital advertising and business development.
  • Utilize non-dues collaborative space via BBB Central

  • Sales experience preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proactive problem-solving and self-management.
  • Creativity and innovation in meeting challenging deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective in both remote and in-office environments.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

  • Generous commission and bonus structure designed to reward performance and revenue growth. Total annual compensation has the potential to exceed $60,000.
