A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
The primary function of the Business Development Officer is outside sales. They are to cultivate relationships with businesses to bring the employees of the business to the credit union or to bring the business account/loan to the credit union. They must also work independently to develop their own leads. They will have a monthly goal for the number of new accounts they bring to the credit union and will be accountable to meet or exceed this goal. They will need to possess confidence, charisma, determination, and a positive attitude as they work daily to increase the number of new credit union members. They are to maintain a strong relationship with members and credit union employees. They will need to have a strong knowledge of credit union products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proactively develops new business relationships by meeting with local business owners and leaders to introduce the credit union's full suite of business products and services to both the organization and its employees. Independently plans, organizes, and prioritizes daily activities to achieve performance goals.
Advocates for the credit union through the organization, coordination, and execution of strategic networking and outreach initiatives aimed at new member acquisition and relationship retention. Enhances the credit union's brand visibility and reputation across business, community, and professional organizations.
Delivers Cyprus-developed educational classes on business banking principles and business products to partner organizations and community groups.
Maintains a comprehensive database of assigned business contacts and viable prospects in alignment with established goals and under the direction of the Vice President of Relationship Development. Provides regular activity, performance, and results of reporting to leadership.
Helps resolve questions, requests, complaints, and problems from business members and credit union employees.
Completes special projects and additional responsibilities assigned in support of departmental and organizational objectives.
EXPERIENCE -Two+ years of previous relationship development and sales experience. One+ year of experience in business banking. Sales, specifically a history of high sales goals, met consistently.
EDUCATION-High school or equivalent. Valid driver's license. Interpersonal Skills. A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy, tact, and communication skills. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating, influencing, or training others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
OTHER SKILLS -Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Physical Requirements - Ability to lift equipment up to 25 pounds for on location events. Must have a well maintained, reliable vehicle and be willing to travel to conduct credit union business. Work Environment - No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).
