We’re seeking a Business Development Representative to expand our referral network, strengthen community partnerships, and help drive admissions growth across the San Diego and Orange County area. This role is ideal for a relationship-driven professional with behavioral health outreach experience who is motivated by impact, accountability, and purpose.

Schedule & Location
  • Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with outside hours required to support our 24/7 mental health facilities.
    Based in San Diego, with travel for meetings and events.
  • Autonomy & Collaboration Manage your territory while working closely with leadership, clinical teams, and admissions.
  • Professional Visibility Represent Alter Behavioral Health at conferences, networking events, and industry engagements.

What You’ll Do
Business Development & Outreach
  • Promote Alter Behavioral Health’s mental health and substance use treatment services within assigned communities.
  • Build and maintain strong referral relationships with clinicians, hospitals, schools, treatment programs, and related partners.
  • Conduct regular face-to-face meetings, calls, emails, in-services, and outreach events.
  • Meet or exceed admissions goals, call volume targets, and outreach activity benchmarks.

Community & Industry Engagement
  • Represent Alter Behavioral Health at regional conferences, trade shows, networking events, and speaking engagements.
  • Assist in planning and executing professional workshops, seminars, and community presentations.
  • Educate referral partners on admissions processes, program offerings, and company policies to ensure a smooth referral experience.

Strategy, Reporting & Collaboration
  • Utilize CRM software to track outreach activity, manage territory plans, and maintain accurate referral databases.
  • Submit weekly and monthly outreach and performance reports.
  • Collaborate with leadership, clinical teams, admissions, and marketing to develop strategic outreach initiatives and collateral.
  • Manage business development expenses within assigned monthly budget parameters.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Business Development.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
  • 2–3 years of experience in business development, clinical outreach, admissions, or a similar role within behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment.
  • Familiarity with residential treatment programs and client needs.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid California Driver’s License required.
  • Must pass a LiveScan criminal background check per licensing requirements.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification required.
