Cedarville University invites applications for a 12-month, full-time, exempt staff Network Analyst position in the Information Technology department within the Business division. This onsite role reports to the Assistant Chief Information Officer and supports the reliability, security, and efficiency of the University’s network infrastructure through server administration, network monitoring, cloud services support, automation, and cybersecurity collaboration. The successful candidate will work closely with IT team members to maintain and strengthen campus technology systems while supporting the mission of Cedarville University. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, virtualization platforms, and cloud services (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS).
- Participate in the management of desktop and mobile device management.
- Monitor and maintain network performance, including authentication, access control, and printing environments.
- Write automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, or equivalent) to streamline network operations.
- Provide after-hours and on-call support for critical incidents on a rotating basis.
- Partner with the Network Engineer and Information Security Analyst to implement and maintain firewalls, VPNs, switches, wireless systems, and other network hardware.
- Stay current with developments in networking, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies.
- Other duties as assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts occasional training sessions for IT staff or campus users.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience/technical training.
- Basic knowledge of computer networking (TCP/IP, switches, routers, wireless).
- Familiarity with Windows or Linux server environments preferred.
- Working knowledge of routing, switching, TCP/IP protocols, and wireless networking.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and best practices (firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, patch management).
- Skills in diagnosing hardware and software problems
- Professional certifications preferred (CCNA, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or similar).
REQUIRED MENTAL/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Ability to install and maintain equipment in diverse environments (offices, server rooms, communication closets, and outdoor enclosures).
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform tasks requiring climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and handling small to large components.
- Proficiency with hand tools and electronic testing equipment.
- Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve computer/network issues.
- Ability to drive a vehicle (on-road and off-road).
- Capable of clear communication in person, by phone, and in writing.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment or communication closets.
- Occasional travel may be required for conferences or training.
