Position Summary

We are seeking a Business Management Lecturer to teach on our International Year Two (IYTwo) in Business .

The NCUK IYOne in Business is equivalent to first-year undergraduate study and prepares students for progression to second-year (FHEQ Level 5) business or related programmes at NCUK partner universities. The role also includes serving as a tutor/co-tutor to a group of students and undertaking duties reasonably assigned by the Head of Academics/Principal.

Key Duties

• Take attendance for the assigned tutor group.
• Prepare lesson plans and a scheme of work/programme of study for assigned classes.
• Produce a course handbook including:

1. Introduction to the subject area
2. Course expectations
3. Aims and objectives
4. Structure of lessons
5. Syllabus structure
6. Brief summary of each unit
7. Reading lists/materials

• Set and mark continuous assessment in line with deadlines and reporting requirements.
• Contribute to academic assessment, standards and quality assurance procedures (desirable).
• Bring experience of further and/or higher education in an international context (desirable).
• Demonstrate understanding of the private education sector (desirable).
• Invigilate internal examinations and entrance tests (occasionally on Saturdays).
• Provide pastoral care to an assigned group of students.
• Participate in cross-college CPD as required.
• Create and develop use of the VLE; record and monitor student attendance and progress as directed.
• Maintain standards expected by awarding bodies, industry and students.
• Work with colleagues to identify and support students at risk of non-completion.
• Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as reasonably required.

Essential Requirements

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Business or a closely related field, and/or relevant professional qualifications.
• Minimum five years’ teaching or closely related experience, aligned to delivery of a Western-style syllabus using Western conventions and methodologies. Significant teaching/qualification management experience at a reputable university may also be acceptable.
• Strong content knowledge in Business Management.
• Excellent professional proficiency in English (Arabic proficiency is an advantage).
• Understanding of UK higher education and the needs of international students (essential).
• ICT literate; strong classroom delivery, presentation methods and use of varied educational resources.
• Ability to take on responsibilities beyond classroom teaching; strong observation skills; able to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent time management, teamwork and communication skills; customer-service mindset within the college environment.

Desirable:

• Experience of education in Qatar .
• Experience in education management .
