JOB SUMMARY
The Business Manager with extensive garment factory experience oversees the end-to-end business operations of the manufacturing unit, ensuring profitability, efficiency, quality, and timely delivery. This role integrates production management, financial oversight, client relations, and strategic leadership to drive sustainable growth and operational excellence in a competitive garment manufacturing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Leadership & Factory Operations
Develop and execute the annual business plan and factory operational strategy.
Oversee production planning, capacity utilization, and workflow optimization.
Ensure the factory meets production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Financial Management & Profitability
Prepare and manage the factory budget, P&L, and cost control measures.
Monitor key financial metrics: Cost per Piece, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Gross Margin, ROI.
Negotiate with suppliers for raw materials, machinery, and utilities to reduce costs.
Ensure accurate costing, pricing strategies, and profitability analysis for each order.
3. Client & Order Management
Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, brands, and buying houses.
Oversee order execution from receipt to shipment, ensuring compliance with client specifications.
Resolve client complaints, quality issues, and delivery delays proactively.
Develop long-term client relationships and explore opportunities for repeat business and upselling.
4. Production & Quality Assurance
Supervise Cutting, Sewing, Finishing, and Packing departments.
Ensure adherence to international quality standards (AQL, ISO, ASTM, client-specific requirements).
Implement quality control checkpoints and defect prevention systems.
Coordinate with the QA/QC team to maintain consistent product quality.
5. Supply Chain & Inventory Management
Manage fabric, trim, and accessory inventory to minimize waste and stockouts.
Oversee supplier relationships for timely and cost-effective material sourcing.
Optimize logistics, shipping, and customs clearance processes for export orders.
6. Team Leadership & Development
Lead a multidisciplinary team including Production Managers, Supervisors, Merchandisers, and Administrators.
Conduct performance reviews, training, and skill development programs.
Foster a culture of safety, discipline, and teamwork on the factory floor.
7. Compliance & Sustainability
Ensure compliance with local labor laws, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Implement ethical manufacturing practices (WRAP, BSCI, SEDEX, Fair Trade).
Promote sustainable production methods and eco-friendly material usage.
8. Reporting & Analytics
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for senior management.
Analyze production data, efficiency metrics, and financial performance.
Present business reviews, forecasts, and improvement plans to leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Operations Management.
MBA or Master’s in Supply Chain Management, Apparel Manufacturing, or Business Strategy preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 12 years in garment factory management, with at least 5 years in a Business Manager or Factory Head role.
Proven experience managing large-scale apparel production units (200+ machines, 500+ workers).
Extensive background in export-oriented garment manufacturing for international markets (USA, EU, GCC).
Experience in Qatar or GCC garment industry is a significant advantage.
Technical Certifications (Preferred):
Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
Six Sigma Black/Green Belt
Lean Manufacturing Certification
ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Garment Manufacturing Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of apparel production processes: cutting, sewing, finishing, embroidery, printing, washing.
Understanding of fabric types, garment construction, and technical specifications.
Proficiency in production planning software: ERP, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
Financial Acumen:
Ability to analyze factory costing, overheads, and profitability.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Compliance & Standards:
Knowledge of international compliance standards: WRAP, BSCI, OEKO-TEX, GOTS.
Understanding of factory safety, labor laws, and environmental regulations.
