Position Overview
Sunflower Services seeks a Business Operations Manager and Analyst to be a vital member of the Operational Excellence team.
This position blends financial analysis, data and systems management, operational support, and process improvement to strengthen the Partner Solution department’s budget, data, reporting, and decision-making functions, while providing administrative and operational support for the charitable and social welfare organizations it partners with.
This position will report directly to a director on the Operational Excellence team and partner closely with the Head of Operational Excellence.
What You’ll Do
Client Financial Administration Processes

Provide administrative and operational support related to managing partnering 501(c)(3) and (c)(4) fiscal sponsors’ general and administrative accounts

Responsible for designated day-to-day contract and payment processes, including management of incoming requests

Manage designated opportunities in Salesforce for incoming, unrestricted funding

Reconcile designated credit card reports

Partner closely with financial analyst on ad-hoc financial analyses, budget questions, and special requests
Financial and Budget Support

Coordinate a central business and budget “desk” decision-making function for the firm

Ensure financial and spending requests are reviewed consistently, equitably, and in a timely manner

Document spending and discount approvals and track against respective budgets

Lead ongoing business and budget desk process improvements in response to evolving approval structures and governance requirements

Support leadership in coordinating the development of department and team-level sub-budgets and spending plans and monitor against them

Coordinate the IT and /Operational Excellence teams’ contract review, signature, and payment processes

Support departmental analysis and reporting, including content development for team-wide budget updates

Develop and maintain budget reporting and dashboards (e.g., Power BI) to support transparency and decision-making

Perform budget variance analysis to explain drivers of over- or underspend

Support promotion and compensation scenario modeling and reporting that complements corporate-level analysis
Workforce Data Administration

Maintain department personnel data in the firm’s ERP systems, specifically data related to staffing (hires, departures, title changes, and bill rates)

Support salary rubric administration and compensation data management

Administer staff change workflows, including recruiting process coordination and position updates

Ensure alignment between tech systems, staffing plans or changes, and budget assumptions
What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field required
-
3-6 years of experience in financial operations, business operations, FP&A, or similar role

Demonstrated experience in budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting

Proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis

Experience building reports or dashboards using tools such as Power BI or similar platforms
-
An inquisitive problem solver with robust financial and analytical skills

Able to take initiative, work independently, and collaboratively and manage effectively in a high-growth and fast-paced environment

Advanced proficiency with Excel for data analysis and developing templates

Adept at written and verbal communication skills and have strong business acumen

Able to manage multiple concurrent projects

Ability to simplify and explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders

Knowledgeable on various business and financial data software
Compensation And Benefits
The salary range for this position is $71,000 – $81,000. Our salary ranges are based on national compensation benchmarks of similar sized companies in professional services. This position is eligible for an annual bonus at 5% of the annual salary.

Location Requirements
This is a full-time position. The position can operate on a hybrid schedule, preferably based in our Washington, DC, or Durham, NC offices, or it can be fully remote from the following locations: Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, or Virginia.
If a new hire is within proximity of our Washington, DC or Durham, NC offices, the expectation during onboarding (~90 days) is that you come into the office a minimum of 3 days per week. After this onboarding period, employees can then come into the office on a more flexible schedule with the remaining days worked at home/remotely.
