Business Portfolio Credit Analyst

Currently, we have an immediate opening for a Business Portfolio Credit Analyst to join our team! The Business Portfolio Credit Analyst is responsible for managing and supporting an assigned portfolio of business lending relationships through disciplined credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and consultative member engagement. The role focuses on evaluating credit risk, structuring sound lending solutions, and supporting responsible business loan growth while ensuring compliance with Credit Union policy, regulatory standards, and risk management practices. The Analyst works closely with Business Member Portfolio Representatives, Business Lending leadership, and business members to underwrite and approve business loans, conduct annual portfolio reviews, and produce portfolio reporting and analytics that support informed credit decisions.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducting annual financial reviews and risk grading for an assigned portfolio of business lending relationships by analyzing business and personal financial statements, calculating key financial ratios, updating credit conclusions in the loan origination system, and monitoring ongoing credit performance to ensure portfolio health and compliance with Credit Union loan policy and regulatory standards.
  • Underwriting new business loan requests, including Small Business and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loans, and structuring, negotiating, and packaging credit requests through approval and closing while ensuring alignment with prudent risk management practices and member needs.
  • Approving or declining business credit card and small business loan requests within designated lending authority in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures while ensuring consistent application of underwriting standards and documentation requirements.
  • Preparing recurring and ad hoc portfolio reports and analyses by leveraging data analytics, including AI-enabled tools where appropriate, to identify trends, concentrations, and emerging risks and support effective portfolio monitoring and credit decisioning.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of Business Lending policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations while assisting in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of lending procedures and recommending policy or process improvements as appropriate.
  • Participating in special projects and cross-functional initiatives that support Business Lending and Credit Union strategic objectives by providing subject matter expertise and ensuring clear communication of outcomes.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business preferred; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial/business lending or commercial real estate.
  • All candidates must be bondable and maintain bondable status throughout employment in accordance with credit union regulatory requirements.
