Business Subject Matter Expert (Business Systems Consultant)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Subject Matter Expert (Business Systems Consultant) to support a large-scale business and technology transformation initiative. The ideal candidate will serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, helping analyze existing processes, identify improvement opportunities, document requirements, and support successful implementation of system enhancements.
This position requires a seasoned professional with strong business analysis, process improvement, data analysis, and stakeholder management experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and perform analysis of complex business processes, systems, and operational challenges.
- Research, document, and recommend improvements to business processes, efficiency, and operational practices.
- Analyze existing systems, databases, and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization.
- Document current-state (AS-IS) and future-state (TO-BE) business processes.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business leaders, end users, and technical teams to recommend solution alternatives.
- Develop functional requirements, process flows, and supporting documentation.
- Support unit testing, system testing, integration testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Perform data assessments, validation, and cleanup recommendations.
- Provide project coordination, task management, and implementation support.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions.
- Assist with end-user training and change management activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Business Systems Analysis, Functional Consulting, Systems Consulting, or related roles.
- Strong experience gathering, documenting, and managing business and functional requirements.
- Proven expertise in business process analysis, workflow optimization, and process improvement.
- Experience creating AS-IS and TO-BE process documentation.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- Experience with data analysis, data management, and business process documentation.
- Experience supporting testing activities, including UAT and system validation.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with business users, technical teams, project managers, and executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within complex enterprise environments.
- Experience with systems modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of business process modeling methodologies and tools.
- Experience reviewing system logic, technical documentation, or source code to support business analysis activities.
- Experience working with large-scale data and reporting systems.

Pay: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour
