The Business Systems Analyst II is responsible for leading and guiding project meetings with the core leadership team to gather comprehensive business requirements and translate them into automated solutions, including workflow technical design and implementation.
This role involves advising and assisting customers in the operation and administration of collection system applications while working closely with the facility host support team. The analyst collaborates with customers to enhance their work methodologies and tools, maintaining a customer-centric technical focus across analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation activities.
The Business Systems Analyst II delivers high-quality, cost-effective solutions to users at all levels and serves as the technical liaison for workflow implementation, project monitoring, and ongoing workflow maintenance. This role supports business goals and objectives aligned with the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Clarify system, workflow, and process needs with operations to understand the purpose and content of requested enhancements
- Assist customers in understanding system functionality and process flows while optimizing their use of assigned applications and project-driven tasks
- Analyze customer workflows and process flows; assist with reengineering departmental work, updating strategies, and improving processes related to account flow and reconciliation
- Translate customer requests into program specifications appropriate to assigned tasks
- Understand customer clinical and business functions, including new customer file testing and implementation within defined timeframes
- Document business requirements and technical details using tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and other applicable tools
- Consult with management or senior team members to gain knowledge required for ownership of assigned process areas
- Support day-to-day operations by responding to requests for research or minor workflow changes
- Identify system enhancements to improve business processes and support future business needs
- Identify issues and concerns, communicate them to management, and develop recommendations and solutions
- Author or review system requests on behalf of business units and process managers, serving as a functional and technical liaison between business units and IS organization
- Learn new technologies and systems to advance operational knowledge and process improvements, consulting SMEs or leadership as needed
- Develop detailed technical designs for workflow automation and implement system changes, including monitoring outcomes for success
- Lead and facilitate meetings with project teams, including end users, management, and IS team members
- Utilize operational and system knowledge to provide recommendations for increased efficiencies and automation through proprietary workflow systems
- Apply knowledge of Six Sigma, TQM, or other project and process management methodologies
- Produce written materials to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
- Analyze complex business issues and identify, design, and implement effective, practical solutions
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with strong organizational skills
- Define boundaries, set priorities, and manage multiple projects with minimal guidance
- Develop detailed project schedules, map resources to tasks, monitor progress, and resolve deviations
- Perform detailed data analysis and make sound, logical decisions independently
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues in a timely manner
- Understand operational business processes and apply technical/system knowledge effectively
- Develop and/or present training to business users
- Work independently and collaboratively across all organizational levels
- Deliver excellent customer service through professional, timely, and courteous interactions
- Maintain intermediate knowledge of database query tools such as MS Access or SQL
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Apply project management methodologies in daily work
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (Required) – must submit proof of education
- Minimum of 3 years of experience (Required)
- Substantial healthcare implementation experience (Required)
- Healthcare provider experience required (hospitals or clinics) – NOT insurance
- Strong background in system and workflow implementation
Technical & Functional Experience
- EMR/EHR implementation experience, including:
- Epic (including Epic module-related projects)
- Athena
- Cerner
- Experience with third-party healthcare applications, including but not limited to:
- Sectra
- Waystar
- Capsule
- SoftBank
- Experience supporting ancillary systems and implementations such as:
- Laboratory
- Pharmacy
- Radiology
- Experience with requirements gathering, documentation, and process flow creation
- Experience producing project documentation, including:
- Project charters
- Status reports
- Meeting minutes
- Agendas
